Protective Windscreen Film

Hi all
I saw a product on a 4wd show that would be a big hit with anyone wanting to see our beautifull country or that tows a camper/caravan.
Its a windscreen film that is applied to the exterior of the screen in a similar way that they apply window tint.
It is UV stabilised and prevents stone chips and cracks in the windscreen. It can be applied to any window including the rear. When the film has too many scratches or stone chips, simply peel the film off and the screen remains as new.

The cost is estimated at 1/3 the price of the price of a replacement screen. the structual integrity of the original screen is not affected.

I believe the company who released this product is called 'Clearplex'.

Re: Protective Windscreen Film

Tony,

Window tint is applied on the interior of the windows, but how will this protective film react to the use of wipers? surely it will get scratched and will affect the vision?

The other point of consideration will be how friendly this film is to the use of products like Rain-X which is applied to windscreen so the water runs-off when it rains.

Re: Protective Windscreen Film

I got the details for this product, the site is still under construction but all the details are there for anyone interested.
web site

Here is an email reply from 4WDTV.

Hi Tony,

We have now been testing it on our GU Patrol for 3 months and love it. The big surprise is how well it repels water and rain simply beads and is swept away instantly by the wiper blades.

The product is called Clearplex and it is a unique glass protection system for vehicles. If you can’t get the info you need then please let me know.

Cheers,
Simon.

I think I might just stick to Rain-X.
Would be interesting to see, what sort of guarantee do this other mob, make against wiper scrapes?????

It's another American product that can be found HERE

Too good to be true, as it is the case with most American advertising, remember the UHU Glue where a ute is being lifted by a crane after applying just one drop of UHU LOL emoticon

Re: Protective Windscreen Film

Should give it a go.... f#$%%d another windscreen from a stone coming off a semi during the week while travelling for work on the Xy....

Thought it was just a curse of the low/lowered MPS, but no, copped a stone hit on the windscreen while heading east to Launnie for an appointment last week.... now have a lovely star at only 4500kms......

Guess that is the curse of work lease vehicles.... time > money esp. @ $220+ per hour emoticon
