I even installed 90/100 watt
Did this cause any problems?
I once installed the brighter lights in another car and it made the headlights turn off after an extended time on high beam.
It was something to do with oo much current drain through the relay.

Re: Head lights equal power of 2 candles
I have tried a couple of different types of headlight globes - although not in my X-Trail, but in my previous car - '99 Pulsar. One set (around $60/pr) only lasted a few months before one of the elements blew (and then two weeks later the other one blew!). The other pair I got were from a "group buy" with the pulsar club, and they were excellent, with much whiter light output, and brighter, too. I was going to swap them over to the X-Trail when I got it, but then I forgot all about it when the time came to sell the Pulsar.
Big spotties are good (especially ones with something like 730,000 candle-power!), but if you're just after better low-beam, then replacement globes would be the way to go. If you want, I'll chase down the brand and/or model of the ones we got in the pulsar group buy... I do believe they were sourced from o/s, so getting them again may be abit difficult... Anything more than "just the headlights" turned on is considered "high-beam" - even foglights or smaller spotlights (eg: factory ones in the front bumpers).
As for the blue LED parking globes - I've seen them before (had some in my Pulsar, too), but they didn't last long (half the LED's stopped working after a very short amount of time) and in the city, they're too easily noticed by the police... Although I haven't once seen an X-Trail pulled over because of the standard blue parking light lenses?!?!

I'm still looking for the globes I had in my pulsar, but in the meantime, check this site out:
http://www.blowoff.com.au/
Seems to be cheaper than Repco and other car accessory stores...
Someone on the pulsar forums mentioned that the "secure" padlock doesn't appear at the bottom of the page in Internet Explorer when you order on their site, so just be aware of that if you're worried about someone stealing your CC details...
Maybe try COD if it's available?
I haven't looked at the site yet...
Hi Richi,
Great site and excellent prices!
Can you guys tell me what type of globe we have on our X-Trails (i.e. H1, H2 or H3 etc.)? Sorry this may sound like a silly question, but I always get confused with the globe types and the owners manual doesn't mention that as well (except to say they're 55watt lights (I think).

Re: Head lights equal power of 2 candles
Richi,
Can I take your word for it that it's H4? I want to buy Philips BlueVision H4 lights through the web site you mentioned or from autobarn (which is $8 dearer, but I don't have to wait for them to come in the mail and risk breakage in transit)
I checked the owners manual and it doesn't mention what type of light bubls they're, just the wattage.
Guys: Any comments?
PS> The Philips bulevision light bubls come with 2 complimentary blue parking light bulbs that can be fitted to make everything look nice.
