Re: xtrail pc install
Water can enter the cabin during a crossing and the usual spot to keep an inverter is under your seat, the lowest point in the cabin, hence the worry about have live 240V in a puddle where you put your feet.
12V is safe, dc at high voltages/currents can only cause burns, AC will cause your heart to go into fibrilation.I know which one I'd rather be shocked with. Also AC will cause muscles to contract, where as dc just burns the skin.
An old sparkie trick to test for live wires is to tap the wires with the back of your hand. Muscles will contract causing hand to move away from live wires, unlike using your palm which live wires cause your hand to close tighter around the wires.

Re: xtrail pc install
hmm dont like the sound of that wire testing trick, i might save my pocket money for a multimeter! I copped a good whack of 3 phase once, pretty mind bending experience!
annnyway - any news on the xtrail PC install front? Im dead keen to do it, but looking forward to learn from others pioneering work in the field. Ive come across a guy who is gonna be selling something called an Infill T3 as of early feb - its a car PC with a touchscreen, DVD, GPS, wireless lan, mobile internet etc... it comes as two seperate 1xDIN units so you can install them together or use the spare DIN slots in the exy!
check it out at www.maxice.com.au
im not sure of pricing yet but im guessing will be similar to a comparative custom PC install?

Re: xtrail pc install
Hi all
I found this on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5857338948
I have been thinking about a total system that can be updated via blue tooth. I have a blue tooth transmitter that can send and receive up to 100 metres fitted to my home computer (USB Fob). My Idea is to replace both DVD player and CD unit with a computer that can do both. And I don’t require any discs or memory cards to update my music / movies, As I will just send them from the home computer to the car?
Anyone got any thoughts on this

Hi Guys,
For those interested in doing a car-puter project in the T31 exy, check THIS out. It's an awesome result for sure and a top job.
