Re: T30 xtrail pc install - mini chiller next.

Just finished installing an Intel Atom ITX carputer, 2GB RAM, XP SP3 - windows 7 desktop, 120GB HDD. linked to a full 8" 4:3 Touchscreen, running at up to 1024 by 768. Carputer came in a carpc case, c/w fans, GOLD RCA audio out and extra USBs. www.mo-co-so.com

PC case went under passenger Seat, DVD-R slot drive velcro'd vertically onto panel near driver's left calf. Screen fit into dash by cutting out fascia crosspiece, giving a perfect fit above pioneer head unit. Pioneer head unit remains and doubles as a power amp via its aux input. PC power switch wired into blank underneath Hazard lights - acts as a Valet switch or needed when just dropping windows etc. Full access to touchscreen pushbuttons and wireless sensor.

Search for this on Ebay ...and make a best offer at 20% below list. Got mine at $150.

ARC LED 8" touchscreen Car PC VGA monitor w/Auto On

If u guys need pics just holler.

Starting a Chiller based on a peltier cooler, Chiller to fit behind the Centre drop down of rear seat. Using a Rubbermaid personal icebox oriented vertically. Plan to vent the Peltier with a XEON copper heatsink/fan into the cargo area. Plan to sheath the inside of the icebox with 3mm aluminium plate to negate the need for a circulating fan for the Peltier. Will give specs/pics when done. Chiller can be located anywhere once u configure an icebox to fit your selected space. Mine is for thirsty kids.

Re: xtrail pc install

Hi Ancel,

Yes I would like to see pics of your install.
Especially interested to see how the 8" screen fits the dash.
Is your T30 a Series 1 or Series 2 (what year was it built) as the dashes are different.

Re: xtrail pc install pics

Here are pics of the Touchscreen install. The DVD-r drive is now placed vertically in the cooled compartment in front of the SHifter. Invisible unless closely inspected. The red pushbutton under the hazard acts as a Valet sw for the PC, or just keeps it off until u want it. There is a 2 minute delay b4 soft shutdown once u switch the PC off via this switch.

I will add reverse parking via webcam, i got a nice one that is motorised and can 'look' where i want it to.

I wired in power cables & Relay for the Peltier Fridge during this install to save me some effort later.

Just a note. i will be adding a smart circuit on the fridge to prevent draining the battery and to suspend power drain during engine start. Naturally the fridge will only run when Ignition is set to ON. The circuit will also suspend power drain when the Sexy Exy goes into boost! Additionally I will include an optional ATX power supply to run the fridge and the PC from the mains.

Re: xtrail pc install

Ah, yes.
That is where you guys with a Series 2 T30 have it better mounting a large screen like the 8".
In my Series 1 T30 the aircon vents are directly under the double-din slots for the head unit and the space cannot be expanded like you have done.
