posticon Radio and clock

Hi all
Does anyone know how to change the time on the radio clock for Series 1 ST. I cant!! and its not in the manual.

Just arrived back from Cape York trip. Fantastic emoticon had a great time. Trying to work out how to get the trail up there. Might be a little work though. emoticon No major incidents or damage, although I need to replace my broken/split exhaust.
(corrugations).

If anyone is interested I will be posting my pics of the trip on my site www australia4wd.com over the next few days.

One last note. Although it wasnt my intention, there was a bit of $'s left over from the South Coast meetup, I have used that to pay for the xtrail site hosting fees for the next few years - so thats safe. Also have some coffee and tea (bickies all gone) left for the next get together
cheers
Peter

Re: Radio and clock

From memory, dont you just twist the knob until you get to clock mode, then push the knob in and twist to change the time.

Welcome back.

Could a trail make it up there? I guess the main road must be ok, as friends of mine just took a FA Falcon up to Weipa.

xtrail to the tip

Geoff
I think one could, but it would have to be the right time of year and really would have to stick to the bypass roads. However the problem with that would be:
- pretty boring - the attraction of the Cape is getting off the main bypass
- the corrugations would play havoc. Not really sure how the xtrail would go.
- OTL would generally be okay untill the creek crossings. Without low range many would be a prob

That said, I think Duncan's is now running a AWD tour - so they probably have a decent route picked out. Weipa wouldnt be an issue, and I think it would make it up to Bramwell without a prob.
I'm thinking about it though, just need someone to pay for a few mods, and bring a winch.
In a few years it will probably all be sealed anyway.
cheers

I didn't even know that series 1 ST's had a clock in the radio/CD, as I always use the one in-dash.

Never had to change the clock on the radio and why would you, if the dash has already got it and it's very easy to change (just press the knob and turn or something like that)

I would have washed your Patrol, but it's a bit bigger than my X-Trail, so would take twice as long to wash, haven't got that much spare time on my hands at the moment

G'day Ladies & Gents. Well I picked up my new Exy' on Monday nite (pictures to come Jalal!) and I am also having trouble getting the clock to appear on the radio. The one on the Speedo is just too hard to see.According to the owners manual it is supposed to happen but nothing I do seems to make any difference! The salesman says it isn't a feature but why does Nissan describe it so well in the book?

Over to the brains trust....

Re: Radio and clock

Good stuff Shane emoticon

Mate, you do have a clock display on the 6CD stacker in the Ti (series II) and the ST (series I & II). There is no clock display option in the Ti (series I)

The instructions on how to turn clock mode on/off are detailed on page 3 of your audio system manual, but here it is anyway.

While the ignition switch is set to ACC, turn off the AUDIO system and do the following:

To turn the clock mode ON, push the PRESET BUTTON (i.e. number 4), while pushing down the MODE.TUNE BUTTON (at the same time) for more than 6 seconds.

During normal audio unit operation, you can have either the radio station displayed or you can have the clock displayed, by pressing the DISP Button.

Hope this helps.

Re: Radio and clock

Thanks Jalal, In the time between putting on my original post & now I spoke to the Nissan dealer. He said they often take out a 10a fuse that keeps the memory etc.
I checked the fuse panel and all of the fuses are in place. I did exactly what you have outlined and.... zip, nada, nothing!
I think I will drop in to my friends at Nissan on the way to work tomorrow and have them demonstrate it for me!
Thanks for taking the time to reply.

ps. stand by for a credit to yr bank account for a rear light dacal & a couple of Xtrail stickers. Hopefully I will get to the bank 2morrow. Regards,
Shane.

Re: Radio and clock

Oh yes, how could I forget the bloody 10A fuse emoticon

Open the centre arm-rest and the fuse should be there emoticon If it's not there, just use one of the spare ones provided inside the fuse pannel.

Check this location on the fuse pannel under the steering column

P.S. Cool for the RFL & Stickers, just make sure you use your username as the reference, so I know it's you emoticon

Re: Radio and clock

Have been through this.
Page 3 and 4 in the audio supplementary manual as Jalal said - toggle time display on/off : with the ignition on but the audio off simultaneously press channel preset button 6 and the tune/seek down button (now why didn't you think of trying that - so intuitive)
To set the time, with the clock on, hold the "audio" button down for more than three seconds and the clock time will flash;
preset 1 advances the hours
preset 2 advances the minutes
preset 6 sets minutes to 00 (and advances the hour if in the 30-59 minutes)
"audio" restarts the clock.

BTW I notice on page 11 the diagram of the back of the unit is the same as tino66's photo - I suspect a wiring diagram for that round socket at the left hand end would show up the "line in" which could be used for a phone or mp3/iPod unit.

I think the comments about twisting the knob refer to the clock in the speedo (press the knob in to cycle from trip meter A to trip meter B to clock.

Re: Radio and clock

Aha! yes, Thanks David, the old toggle this whilst pushing that! Our Japanese friends are fiendishly cunning with clock/radio settings.
Well, as it turns out, I was discussing the clock feature with another guy at work who also has an Exy'. I gave him my keys and 5 minutes later he was back and all smiles. The secret is: Push the Mode/Tune button 1st THEN the preset button 4, hold for longer than 6 seconds and HEY PRESTO... clock! He is chuffed because he now has it set on his car as well.
I knew we could get there eventually... just had to pay $40 in ISP access fees to get on-line.

Thanks to all.

Shane.
