Re: Second Fuel Tank Capacity
Thanks Billy! Tanks do come in varied shapes and sizes, I just hope I can get on that suits the space I have underneath. How does the exy perform with the inline exhaust u have? any loss of low-down power?
Do you have 2 resonators and 1 muffler? or 2 mufflers and 1 resonator?

Re: Second Fuel Tank Capacity
It’s my understand the standard system has two catalytic converters (One in the header collector pot, and the other is just behind it). After that is the hotdog muffler then a resonator.
The exhaust mod that was carried out on mine, removed the large resonator & replaced it with a smaller unit. This was very poorly done. From smaller pipe size to a more of a restricted resonator. I got jack of it and replaced it with a straight through pipe. Much better, just a bit noisy.

Re: Second Fuel Tank Capacity
My wife had a great idea to take the car this winter and venture out to the red centre and north which is a great idea but towing the Jayco I only get 300k's comfortably out of the car so I looked at this thread and contacted Long Range Automotive to check the options short of replacing the X-trail.
This looks all possible, and the LRA kit includes the replacement muffler, the only spanner in the works may be the Hayman Reese towbar which sits further under the car than the Nissan one does. From the pictures I gather that both BillyWally and the pictures Jalal took are vehicles with Nissan tow bars fitted. LRA are trying to find out if this is going to fit and I'm waiting for their reply. Does anyone have sizings for this aux fuel tank? The space between the rear sway bar and the towbar is 33cm/13 inches on my car.

Re: Second Fuel Tank Capacity
I have just finished a Adelaide, Woomera, Cooper Pedy, Uluru, Kings Canyon, Alice Springs, Marla, Oodnadatta, William Creek, Maree, Quorn to Adelaide trip over two weeks. Towing a Cub camper.
While driving LPG seemed readily available and a twin (spare wheel and under floor) tanks system seemed a long range idea.
Long dirt road trips give you time to think of things like this.

Re: Second Fuel Tank Capacity
I have done some driving around now.
Looks like the range towing the camper is about 331 km on gas (at 110 Kph), so overall while towing my fuel range is just over 980 km.
