Mate!!! I wouldn't want to be stuck behind you doing 68kms/hour on the M5 and M2 LOL emoticon

No wonder your fuel consumption was so low emoticon

Steady on there mate emoticon ! Thats 68k/h avg. over 1100k ! On the M2, M5 the Xy stayed at the posted speed limit without any dramas .
I believe the best way to get good fuel figures is to be easy on the pedal (cruise control helps with that ) and stay at as constant a speed as possible ! I found 80k/h is the best for fuel effiency with 100k/h good , but when driving at the posted limits theres not much that can be done ! The Cvt keeps amazing me with the way it operates . It seems to adapt to the driving style used . Not going above 4000 revs and using little fuel whist staying at legal speed limits is something to get used to ( way different from auto and manual driving ) !Its all good in my book . emoticon

Re: Fuel consumption

Was up in the Blue Mountains yesterday. A 300km trip in total with only about 30km on a freeway. The rest was the usual mix of stop/start traffic lights and 60km limits through Sydney and then Bells Line of Road once we escaped the city. All up, a 6hr mixed collection of everything that I would have expected to increase fuel consumption, including the Sunday afternoon traffic jams when everyone tries to get back into Sydney at the same time. Filled up on the way out and checked the fuel consumption when I got back. 7.9l/100km! I was amazed. I've not filled up yet to check that the dash reading is correct but I've no reason to think it wouldn't be as it's usually pretty accurate.

I can't figure it out. I can try everything to lower fuel consumption and still get figures up in the 11's and 12's, even on run, or I can just ignore it, thrash it up and down the hills on Bells Line of Road and get under 8. Where's the logic in that? At least I've now got an excuse to spend more time up in the Blue Mountains as the car clearly likes it up there emoticon

Re: Fuel consumption

If you drive straight after resetting the meter you'll get high figures . Once a few k's are under your belt the fuel figures drop . I guess its a real Average not a run average like in the BA falcon I drive at work. I did notice that elctronics plays a big part in adapting to all sorts of driving done!

Re: Fuel consumption

I think I know that short cut , but how much fuel would you think you'd save emoticon
I do agree with the mountain air contributing to good fuel efficency . Cool clean air has to help . Ever notice the difference in preformance on a cold damp day ! engines luv it .

Re: Fuel consumption

The short cut only saves time not watching the car in front of you for around 10k's.
That or you can use bells Line of rd which is longer, but still gets you home earlier, especially on a Sunday afternoon.
