T31 Diesel Fuel Consumption

Hi Guys,

Thought I'd start this thread to discuss and monitor the T31 Diesel fuel consumption instead of using the monster thread.

All other xtrail models to continue using the existing threads.

THIS THREAD IS FOR THE T31 DIESEL ONLY!

Re: T31 Diesel Fuel Consumption

Thought I should post the average consumption for the first 1,000k's on my new TL : 7.0l/100!

i did a run to Bunbury and back today and sat on the speed limit 110km/hr as indicated by my GPS (speedo appears to be less by approx 8km/hr).

Engine was turning over at approx 2,200rpm in 6th and the average for the 440km return trip was 6.8l/100km.

For once the manufacturer's stated figures have been met and 'bettered'.

John
Thats pretty impressive, you'd have to be pleased with that.
Those figures may even improve with a few thousand more klm's on the motor.
Glenn.

I am Glenn - it vindicates my choice of vehicle/engine particularly with the variabilty of fuel pricing and who knows what level it will be at in two to three years. (I estimated around $3/litree by the end of 2010).

Re: T31 Diesel Fuel Consumption

I only picked up my TL yesterday and it still has less than 100km on the clock.

The run through peak hour traffic from one extreme of Adelaide to the other has a good mixture of speed zones, traffic jams, and open expressway runs and is about 55km. When i got home it said the average was 6.9l/100. I noticed when climbing the big hill (in 6th @100km/h mind you - the T30 would have been kicking down gears all over the place) it got up to 7.2.

I still cant believe the torque that the engine has - it seems to love being around 2000rpm which must really help its fuel economy. The 'distance till empty' on what i assumed was a completely full tank from the dealer was near enough to 900km - a far cry from the 550km max i would get from the T30 Ti-L. That will make the trips to Melbourne much less stressful!

Im thinking about getting a OBDII (similar to scangauge) to compare the cars readings too.

Cheers!

5000kms & 7.2l/100 - mind you half of this has been extended highway cruising at the WA stated max of 110km/hr and a little more!

7.8 for me. 1100k's on the clock. Manual with roofracks. Fair bit of time at 120-125 on run up to the sunshine coast and back. Plus I have been "Playing" with the torque. Interested to see if it starts getting better. First service is on Wednesday and then up to Double Island for a camping holiday. Very keen to put it through its paces on beach and dirt.
