Re: T31 Diesel Fuel Consumption

Howdy Michael,
My suggestion is to definately take it out on the freeway every now and then, as well as (if you are able to safely) give it a bit of stick in some mud or sand.
I have just been towing heavy trailers for the last week and i plodding around suberbia which increased my fuel usage up to around 7.8.
Taking the car out onto the freeway (and coincidently having to pull over onto the side of the road where there was lots of mud and puddles as i "thought i heard my phone ring", 7 times) has freed up the engine and reduced my fuel usage overall back down to 6.7.

Hope this helps,

Re: T31 Diesel Fuel Consumption

G'Day All,

Many thanks for the confirmation. With so much advice out there in the uninformed world it's hard to know who to listen to.

We now have a licence to have a bit of fun with the diesel .... it sure seems up to it!!

Why the hell doesn't the owners manual tell us these things!??!

Can anyone confirm or deny whether biofuel can be used in these rigs .... or is that a dirty word in this company???

Cheers, and thanks again for your advice.

Helo again,

We just managed to find another thread that mentions biodiesel mucking around with the DPF .... so I guess that answers THAT question.

A shame, since we have little green environmentalists perching on our shoulders!!

Cheers to all.

Re: T31 Diesel Fuel Consumption

Howdy Michael,

Yep as you read in the other thread, steer clear of Biodiesel in the T31, if you will pardon the pun!
I have noticed a few of the "Enuffe" bio fuel service stations in Adelaide have been bought by BP, ill still keep away from them until i know the tanks have been flushed with new fuel.
There is a brand new BP on Port Wakefield road, opposite the Cavan Steak Van. It opens today and is massive. I noticed the stickers on the pumps were the old Diesel ones, and not the new Ultimate Diesel stickers, i hope they fix that and get the Ultimate in there!

My fuel consumption has been higher this week, up around 7.1L/100. With my 40,000km service looming im guessing its telling me to get it done!

Cheers,
