Re: Diesel Grades

Yep im sure it would gummy it up quick smart.

Im not sure how it (biodiesel) can be sold without a disclaimer in really big letters on the pump. There are quite a few euro diesels on the market now which it would be bad news for.

Re: Diesel Grades

When they released biodiesel it was mentioned to check with manufacturers' to see if it could be used in that vehicle.
I accidently used it in my Patrol once, and to be honest, I couldn't get used to the car smellimg like fish'n'chips. It made me feel sick every time I got out of the car.

Re: Diesel Grades

Dave was saying he put biodiesel into his triton by mistake but it didnt do anything harmful, if anything it made his fuel economy better. Im guessing it doesnt have a DPF.

I found myself driving an extra 10km today to go fill up at a BP instead of the closer Shell. Guess im into a habit now. There was trucks filling up at the one i found and there was diesel all over the ground so it should be OK.

As the mechanic said at Nissan - if it doesnt smell like diesel, dont put it in your car.

Re: Diesel Grades

What is the best for not filling up the dreaded DPF?
Is low sulphur good?
High cetane good?
Fuel additives to increase cetane good (Millers)?
I was on a small Scottish island recently and had the DPF light come on twice (500 mile between), it could have been the low speed running, but the fuel was an unknown brand to me (Gleener)

Re: Diesel Grades

From what can ascertain the problems with the DPF/MIL light can be attributed to low Cetane levels in diesel. I am not sure about additives at this stage. Diesel in Australia is 10ppm which I think is the Euro standard.

research the oil companies in the UK & purchase the brand that has the highest cetane and I don't think you will have problems

Cheers
