Locking Pin

Hi

This is my first post outside of the introduction section of this forum so hoping someone can help me out. we had a trailboss towbar fitted when we purchased the x-trail and recently purchased a locking pin but found it is too long (the pin is fine) it's the locking cover that is too long and I can't attach it and lock it. I have since returned the locking pin to Mitre 10 and will try Repco on Thursday (tried Autobarn and Super Cheap but they all had similar ones to what I had tried).

Hope my post makes sense.

Re: Locking Pin

Hi Ross,

Have a read of this thread from Loafer's ride where there is a brief discussion on his locking pin and problems using it with the towbar he fitted.

Result was that any other towbars than the Nissan one seem to be recessed too far into the bumper notch for locking pins to fit well.

The comment at the bottom of page 3 and those on page 4 will be most appropriate to a solution of your problem.

Re: Locking Pin

Thanks, have read that info decided to spend some time on google

I think Something similar to this is what us T31 Owners with After market Towbars require

http://www.stylintrucks.com/parts.aspx?partfamilyid=21353&scid=AFFP&CustomerMemberID=tfc_-_13_36_090825_6432709927a9258e3c1cc239f671ea06

We didn't end up buying our x-trail from a nissan dealer as they kept stuffing us around but starting to wish we had got a genuine towbar...one only learns from his mistakes

Re: Locking Pin

G'day all,

Yep same issue.. Have a Nissan installed Tow package, and you can not fit one of the locking pins from the shops due to how far the rear bumper sticks out.

Since I have a special hitch cover that needs locking, I drilled a hole in the original locking pin and use a small padlock.

Cheers,
David & Sonja

Re: Locking Pin

Dave,

It's available at SuperCheap Auto ($29.00 from memory), Do a Google search on it and you'll find it.

Thanks Jalal, I had a look at the local one, and they didn't have that brand. I'll have a look at a bigger store..

Cheers,
David

I'm 90% sure I got mine from Autobarn. A long time ago though.
