Re: *NEWS FLASH** Nissan X-Trail ST-S Limited Edition (Australia)**

Is there that much difference in premium costs for the different versions of the X-Trail to bother worrying about which model you have? I can understand there would be a noticeable difference between an ST and a Ti with sunroof, leather seats etc... Wouldn't the X-Treme and 40th Anniversary versions be about middle-of-the-range?

It might be a good idea to post the varying quotes for insurance you've got for the different versions in the relevant insurance costs comparison thread.

Re: *NEWS FLASH** Nissan X-Trail ST-S Limited Edition (Australia)**

my worry is not the cost of insurance, my worry is should I have to make a claim some day, I don't wont them to turn around and say "sorry but your insurance is invalid since you gave us false information". I realise I'm probably just being paranoid, but you never know with insurance companies, they do like to hold on to every possible cent.

Jalal, I am thinking along your lines. An ST (which is what the Nissan guy said it came up as when I gave him my VIN number) with the EXTREME pack. But it has the ST-S sticker. So then should I insure it as an ST with the sunroof etc as factory extras.

Sorry guys, I'm so confused.

Pete,

The sticker means nothing and it could have been added by a "smart" salesman at the dealership to move it and sell it more quickly. It is a bad practice and can be considered as false advertising and had you asked this question when you bought it last year, you could have put this salesman in trouble for selling you an ST and charging for an ST-S.

Nissan records would be 100% correct, as they go by the vehicle stock number which is printed on the windscreen and if they said it is registered as an ST on their database, then this what it exactly is.

Do me a favour mate and have a look under the car and see if you have the second cat. converter there or not? If you/re not sure what it looks like, have a look in the exhaust thread.

had a quick look in the exhaust forum but don't really know what I'm looking for. Could you direct me to a pic of the catalytic converters.

good news is that if it is the ST and only has one cat you have an extra 7Kw overs the ST-S

better than foglights or clear tailights i'd say!

Peter,

Have a look in THIS thread and look at the first photo posted in it.

P.S. We're way off topic here and this question should have been posted in the General section of the forum. I will clean-up this thread as soon as we finish this discussion.

Hi Peter,

I was at the Nissan dealers today to get a service on my x-trail and noticed there were quite a few 06/07 exy's there which where ST-S but did not have foglights so it is possible that the ST-S which is not the 40th anniversary edition does not have foglights

Also, looking at my service receipt i see that they have my car down as an X-Trail ST, although it is an ST-S X-Treme, so it is likley that thats why they said your was an ST when you called.

Hi All,

Dad has an ST-S xtrail - I have an ST-S 40th Anniversary - his does not have fog lights or variable intermittent wipers, his also has only one baby seat clip in the centre.

I nearly told him to go back and speak to his dealer cause he had been ripped off - however these differences are noted in the specs on redbook.
