I bought my Series II ST in October 2005, built July05.
I rang Nissan head office at Dandenong yesterday (friday 19/5), they had a line dedicated to the recall. The "manager" i spoke to asked me only for my rego number, and said there would be no recall on my vehicle.

What is the time frame to get this done? say you leave it three, four or five weeks and it fails would nissan cover the damage or would they say they warned you to get it fixed.... (just thinking out load really)

This is a Safety recall and I wouldn't leave it for weeks.
You're however covered for this particular defect by Nissan, but would you risk your life over it?
Fuel leak is a serious business and I can only hope that no one had a serious accident which resulted in this recall being made official.
I'm calling my dealer tomorrow to make a booking.
P.S. I was telling Adam the other day that this recall explains the fuel smell I sometimes smelt inside the cabin, but because I like the smell of fuel I didn't think much of it and thought that I must have over-filled the tank. Adam's wife smelt exactly the same thing as well with their exy.

Just called the dealer to make a booking and the next available date is 5/6
They've been flooded with calls from all affected xtrailers!
They reminded me that it is VERY important to keep the fuel level less than half a tank or they won't be able to perform the service.
The replacement part is available and they will need my exy for half a day.

Hi, I got my letter yesterday as well, Grabbed my torch and checked mine out,I cleaned all round the branch join, no sign of rust, so wont worry till I get a service done..

Got my letter yesterday, saw Nissan today and mine is booked in for this Thur 25/05.
Half my luck I put a full tank of fuel in her on Sunday  , so looks like I'll be siphoning half a tank of fuel out and giving it to the Elantra.
{EDIT} There is no way to siphon out the excess fuel, I tried a few siphons and none seemed to work. I couldn't get the hose down far enough I'd reckon.
So I've had to re-schedule my recall for another day, The exy is now booked in for Mon 05-June,

hey everyone,
i got mine done today, it took half a day. From what i can see they've replaced the black rubber which is around the fuel cap. Whatever else they replaced is hidden inside.
I filled it up right afterwards because mine was almost on empty and straight away i could tell that it was sooo much easier to fill up, i didn't have to mess around with the nossle like i usually do.
Also no fuel smell.

PS. They put a recall sticker next to the old sticker on the drivers side door AND gave me paperwork. So everyone make sure u get these things.

Thanks for the heads-up Matt.
Check the fuel tube that is going to the fuel tank under the rear fender (it is exposed) and see if they have replaced that too. Should look pretty new if they did.
