emoticon Thumbs up for Motors, Devonport, our local Nissan agent.

They checked and loctited my intake butterfly screws today. Had the car for three hours and cost me $269 for peace of mind. Even washed the car before I picked it up. Workshop manager was at lunch when I picked it up so will ring tomorrow to see if any were loose. He even new about this procedure.

I'd be interested in knowing also. I've considered getting mine probed with an endoscope to eyeball the butterfly valves but the engine has never missed a beat since way back in 2003. So I'm a little reluctant to crack the gaskets to check it out. Although for $269 I might consider it getting done. You must have told em it was your B'day recently and they gave you a discount eh ? emoticon

Great work David, Seems like the dealerships are pretty honest down there in Tassie. Looks like they performed this operation in good time with all the hoses and wires etc. in the way at the top of the engine.

It's good to see at least one dealer that didn't look surprised by your request and already knew about it. Tells a lot about the pro-active approach of some good dealers out there. I hop the rest can follow suit.

Re: **Loose intake butterfly screws**

When I rang various dealers for their prices, the service manager at Hardmans in Armidale was able to give me their price as soon as I mentioned it. They had previously carried out this work on 3 other X-Trails . They also had the cheapest price, so may finally get it done there when I next visit my sister.

 emoticon Yes Julie,

I decided to bite the bullet and get them done. Would kick myself if they ended up causing a problem and had done nothing. Its good to have peace of mind.

Re: **Loose intake butterfly screws**

Does anyone know the part number of the gasket - assume its a good idea to replace and not reuse? Going to perform check and loctiting myself, my exy is just about to clock up 70K and is waay out of warranty.

Re: **Loose intake butterfly screws**

great thanks emoticon,

reading through this thread, in regard to the part numbers you mentioned for the later screws with washers - are these worth investing in or in your view is is just as effective to reuse and loctite the earlier version of the screws?
