Re: CB Radio - How to fit
Brett, re: the "police scanner ability" you mentioned - my handheld GME was programmed by a shop several years ago, but very recently, I can no longer hear speech in most of the channels as they have changed over to digital transmission. I believe they still use the same frequencies but have been digitally encoded so all you hear is "white noise" when they broadcast.
I already knew about this digital upgrade a few years ago (from someone I know who works on the police radio) but it's gradually being rolled out and now is to the point where I can only hear a few call-sign districts.
Even if you can find a decoder, I don't know how you'd attach it to your GME to be able to hear what they're saying...

Re: CB Radio - How to fit
Rich,
Without going into much detail on how to pick-up police frequencies (which is illegal) let's just say that it can be done
Lets leave it at that on this subject please.

Re: CB Radio - How to fit
And how is that enforced Brett?
How can they be sure that you're not listening to "assist" in an offence being committed?
Is there a black and white written rule about this? Please share it with us, so we know where we stand in terms of discussing this subject, as my understanding it is not legal.

The offence is only committed when done so to gain financial advantage or to assist in the commission of an offence. ie, listening on a scanner for police arrival times, cars in area etc.
ie: tow truck drivers
