Hi,regarding police scanner it is no longer available as they already gone digital ,so for those xtrailers thinking of buying one please don't such waste of money might as well buy digital scanner but it will cost a fortune.aprrox. $700 to $900.00 depending on brand.have it on my Kenwood 860G all I can hear now is NOISE!!! not sure in country areas if they update it yet.

To decode digital signals, (not neccesarily police) a car-puter type system would be of great use as you can feed the audio signal direct to a software decoder.

However should you have a reason to listen top police, which I don't condone, you would also need their encryption key, which I hear is on a rolling basis. So even if you did get it, you would have to work it out again at the next code changeover.

Having a car based computer attached to a UHF however is extremely useful for radio TTY and various other telemtry, provided you stick to the telemtry channels (22 and 21 I think)

Back on topic a little, what of the t30's? where can I stuff a Uniden 088 (uhf/vhf combo)

Mine is still under finance and I'm not allowed to "de-value" the vehicle.
