Re: Clutch issues and potential upgrades
HI, I am currently upgrading my clutch and flywheel to a solid flywheel and heavy duty clutch. I get the car back on Monday. After recent experiences, solid flywheel and a heavy duty clutch is the only way to go. Dual mass flywheels are not a good setup for this vehicle

Re: Clutch issues and potential upgrades
Sorry Cam,
This is not the thread to be dragging the piggy-back ECUs into.
You can ask this question in your members ride thread.
Let's leave this thread on the topic of clutches and their upgrades.

Re: Clutch issues and potential upgrades
Upgrading the clutch to a solid flywheel and heavy duty clutch is the only way to go. The original genuine setup is no good for offroad capabilities. Mine is fantastic and better than it was before with much quicker response time when engaging. IF your considering upgrading the clutch dont waste your money on the origninal setup.

This was also confirmed to me by the dealer (un-officially) who said they're getting MANY xtrails in with early clutch wear and problems.

Re: Clutch issues and potential upgrades
Hi Hiimkam
After my experience, I would not rely on the stock clutch for off-road use. It hardly stands up for on-road driving. THe end of the day they are all made to a price.

Re: Clutch issues and potential upgrades
The reason they are expensive is the dual mass flywheel. In most instances when a clutch is burnt out it also damages the dual mass flywheel due to overheating and then they buckle. They cannot handle excessive heat, not really a good set up for a 4WD. I dont have that problem with that setup anymore as I have a solid flywheel and a heavy duty clutch on my Exy. Worth every cent.

Re: Clutch issues and potential upgrades
Shane
All patrols have dual mass pressure plate which suit 4wds to the ground.
The purpose of them is to prevent shudder on take off, the small amount of twist they have absorbs this.
Where as a dual mass flywheel, I'm not so sure why Nissan they would even bother.
The pressure plate is a lot cheaper to replace than the flywheel.
