Re: No Power
I'm thinking seriously about selling mine .... I think it's a lemon!!! It's only done 25000kms.
The loss of power happened again, this time whilst excelerating down hill. Sure makes no sense to me. I'll book it in AGAIN to Nissan and see what they say this time.
Wish me luck!

Re: No Power
I've had no more problems with the gearbox in the last few months so I haven't been able to try the "switch off and reset" thing yet to see if it does indeed clear the problem. I had the car in for it's 30k service last week and asked the garage if they had heard any further news from Nissan but they said they hadn't.

Re: No Power
It's currently at Alec Midren Nissan in Artarmon for a check up on the CVT.
They inform me that they will be charging me for the time thry send looking for the problem. Does that sound right?
I'll let you know what they find!

Nope it doesn't. Any problems relating to the transmission while under warranty and this includes all diagnostics, should be covered by Nissan Australia. Your dealer should make a claim of their time spent diagnosing the problem and any replacement parts to Nissan Australia, who will authorize the warranty claim and cover all their expenses.
Do NOT agree to pay for it up-front and then have Nissan Australia reimburse you. That's not the way it works. If the dealer insists you pay up-front, call Nissan Australia customer service!

Re: No Power
Thanks Jalal!
You've probably just saved me a small fortune!!!!!!
However, I've just spoken with customer service and they inform me that if no problem can be found, then it's up to the service centre to decide if they are going to charge me for the diagnostic time.

Re: No Power
That is correct, if no problem is found.

Re: No Power
$250 later .... no result!
Then to make matters worse the "slip" light came on in the dashboard on a flat / straight road and there was a shudder in the engine as it happened !&*^#!@!!
How can I take this further .... how do I make Nissan see that there is something wrong with this car that is unseen by it's own diagnostic tools.

Nissan Address & contact details
For those unhappy XTrailers who have been unfairly treated by Nissan or their Nissan Dealers. Phone 1800035053. Nissan Customer Relations Dept. State your case to a Manager. You can also request that your car is inspected by another dealer.

Re: No Power
Well to my amazement this weekend ,I had some trouble with my cvt.
I do know that I did have it in manual mode when this happened !
I was doing a hill climb on dirt and came across a Mazda 3 (I think) taking it's time going up and I had the cvt in around third gear (manual) but when the Mazda pulled over to let me pass ,I had the accelerator pedal hard to the floor with no response to the engine or revs.
Pushed it back to the auto side and within a brief few seconds the car came to life.
Happened a little further on as well in manual mode and this time I tried to select a gear manually but it had no affect and the gear reading was still 3rd.
My only thoughts would be that the cvt went into protection mode after staying in such a low gear for a long spell and the fluid may have overheated!
Since leaving it auto mode for the rest of the day ,I have since used the manual side but have had no further problems.
This was very interesting!
Regards Scot
P.S Just reread the failure safe section on restart and will have to try that when it happens again!
