Hi all,

Found the following forum discussion about the CVT in the Nissan Rogue. People having similar problems. I wonder is it the same CVT at the T31?

Re: T31 - CVT Transmission replacement just after 10000kms

Hi guys,

For the past few days my exy has signs of the CVT problem as Bruce's exy so I decided to take it to my Nissan and had a test drive with one of their mechanic today. He heard the noise straight away after 5 min drive and said to me that it's definately from the CVT gear box, they just send an email to Nissan Australia late today for their instruction and will let me know tomorrow what they are going to do about it.

The noise can be described as Bruce did in his first post sort of whining, rattling noises when hopping on and off throttle. Mine can also be heard at 60km/h. I've never taken my exy off road, never drive she hard always use BP 98 premium petrol. The car built date was Jan2009. So any CVT owner think they have the same problem, it's worth to have a check. Again, thanks Bruce and the forum for posting this topic

I would say that they will simply swap the whoile CVT transmission as they did in a recent post.
Cause not even nissan will be able to work out how to fix it.

Keep us posted.

Hi guys, got a call from Nissan service people yesterday, they have to replace the new gear box for my exy, but I have to wait for 3-4 weeks emoticon because it is being shipped from Japan. I ask them would it done any damage to the engine or other components if I keep driving with the faulty gear box, they assured me it wouldn't, I don't know if I should believe them.

It's unbelieveable, I have had the car only 6 mnths, done only 12000k.

Get that in writing from them!

The T31 bugs and problems are starting to surface it seems and both the diesel and petrol got their share of issues so far, it would be interesting to see if Nissan will issue a recall because of these problems and how many cases they had so far.

Aren't recalls normally only done for safety reasons ?
So far, these issues don't seem to be causing any safety concerns, just a lot of annoyance and frustration for owners.

Not really mate, the crank position sensor recall and O2 sensor breakage had no safety concerns with the T30 when nissan issued a recall for them.

A recall will take place if a defect is detected in the manufacturing process and a certain number of cases reported, but all recalls come with a directive from Nissan Japan.

Hi Wendy & Rob,

Can you find out what type of driving conditions (onroad, offroad, towing, short trips, long highway runs, etc) the one with 2 replacement transmissions has been doing ? It might give us a clue on what to avoid or what will trigger the problem.

Kev
By the sounds of it its a generic problem with the transmission, I don't think it matters how you drive or where there is obviously something thats not working in the CVT properly that causes its demise.
