Neutral or D? Just a simple question, I hope, is it advisable/recommended to shift a CVT into neutral when stationary? eg waiting at lights.
Although if you do do this does hill hold engage after you have shifted back into D?
Not having an auto before I'm not even sure if you are meant to this with a standard type auto.
Thanks Peter.

Re: Neutral or D? Hi Peter,
This question is frequently debated and it is really a personal preference, some say that shifting from D to N too frequently introduces un-necessary wear on the gears, I on other hand a firm believer in shifting from D to N if stuck at the lights or a traffic jam for an extended period of time to reduce engine vibration and load on the pads.
THIS existing thread also talks about exactly the same subject.

Re: Neutral or D? Thanks for the link, but it really is only taking about the older autos, am I correct in assuming that the CVT's also have a torque converter?
But I must say that when I go from park/neutral into drive there is a few seconds of delay, which means that if you are too eager and start to accelerate it dose jerk a tad.
So I might just be better off leaving it in drive, next service I'll check.
