Are you saying you carry weights to hold you down when you grab the fuel hose at the station? LOL emoticon

What posessed you to try this Tony ? Frustration ?

Kev
I remember as a kid growing up, dad used to curse the old XC falcon for doing the same thing everytime he filled up.
I can remember being rocked side to side in the back seat.
I just had a flashback and thought I'd give it a go, hey presto. emoticon

Re: Problem When filling up fuel tank

Hi,

Further to my earlier posting, I checked back with my Nissan Dealer to see if there was any news from Nissan on a fix for this problem. All he could say was that Nissan were still working on the issue that affects fuel gauge readings and to check back in a few weeks. So keep watching....

Cheers, Tim

Re: Problem When filling up fuel tank

OK, finally Nissan have come back with a fix for this problem. They have confirmed that there are some problems with both fuel gauge sender units that requires one to be replaced and the float to be relaced on the other. This they will do under warranty (of course). So if you are getting inconsistent readings or the fuel gauge doesn't show full when you've filled the tank then get on down to your dealer and they will fix it.
A couple of things to note - 1. They order the parts from Japan so it will take a couple of weeks before they can book your x-Trail in. 2. Nissan require you to present the car no more than half full with fuel. Once the parts are replaced they test it by filling the tank and checking that the gauge shows full. All you are then charged for is the fuel the dealer puts' in to fill the tank.

Good luck, emoticon

Tim

Note to Jalalski - not sure if you want to post this somewhere else as it might affect quite a few T31 Owners?

Re: Problem When filling up fuel tank

Thanks for the update Tim.

My wife's Nissan Tiida is having the same issue and is missing a quarter of a tank on the fuel needle when filled-up, so I might get onto Nissan about this as well.

Re: Problem When filling up fuel tank

My Exy has only recently started showing one less light when the tank is full.
I didn't realize how frustrating it is when it does that.

Mine also shows one bar less straight after filling up, but after stopping it goes up to full, however it it wont stay there long, drops back one very quickly.

Re: Problem When filling up fuel tank

My gauge is also not reading properly - shows one bar under full when the tank is full to the brim.

Rang the dealer and of course they had never heard of this problem, so I informed them that Nissan was aware of the issue and asked if they could get the parts in so that I could get the problem sorted in a day.

Of course they couldn't do this as it would be far too convenient - I would have to let them have the car for a day to "diagnose" the problem and then bring it back another day when they got the parts - I live a long way from the nearest dealer so Nissan has a win - it's more trouble to get it done under warranty than it's worth so I'll just live with it.

Mine went in for its 10k service also with a dodgy fuel guage - they confirmed a replacement sender unit is required to be fitted - Nissan Cleveland.
