A bit worrying this, mines got one of the keyless systems, so the "key fob" resides in my pocket. Thinks, driving at speed at night, get hanky out of pocket, hit the lock button, head lights go out! I will have to try it out on the drive.

It should work.
Try this.

Turn lights on, get out of car and close the door.
Lock the car with remote, lights should go off.

Unlock the car, nothing happens except doors open.
Open the door via handle and the lights will come on.
