Painful new person to forums
Thanks to Jalal I am now a forum user, help!!
Anyone out there with patience would appreciate some feedback
I have just bought a
2006 Nissan XTrail ST S 40th anniversary model
5 speed mannual
Sunroof
Just under 57,000kms at time of purchase
bought approx 2 weeks ago
Its the most modern car I have ever owned so whoa!
Last car was a 96 model, whoopee,
I am very proud of it and love it , it
BUT.... I have only ever owned automatic ford station wagons, go figure
We dont believe in owning new vehicles they depreciate the second you
own them
HOWEVER... really wanted to get back to a mannual car
and downsize to a more compact wagon now the kiddywinks
are no longer little ones, just bigger ones.......
SO.... we considered Subarus, and was stuck on the Forester
however found them to be considerably less roomier
in the back seat for teenagers, long trips, and the wagon area also,
Funny thing is, we have never owned 4wdrives and never wanted to.
My hubby is not a carhead so figured would be good idea to
resource info about this
Four Wheel Drive Car we now have, etc,
LITERALLY BY CHANCE..... we were shown the Nissan XTrail as an
alternative by the car dealer and were impressed with the room
the height for viewing the road, re my teenager will learn to drive
in early 2010, help!!
We want our teenager to learn on a mannual and I really wanted
to get back to a mannual, and loving it, the car is really smooth
and it had done almost 57,000 kms, and in very good condition,
Also noted that on the NRMA Used Car Safety Crash Rating that the
Nissan XTrail was rated 4 out of 5 stars
only 1 star less than the Subaru Forester, we looked at this re our
teenager learning to drive in the new year.
so next is, some extras to assist me in my spacial judgement of
parking re the very short front and back of car, not knowing where
to stop, as the old ford was easier to see and judge the front and end
in parking.
I have driven ford station wagons for 20 years in automatic
and loving the more compact car feel and the MANNUAL DRIVING !!
I see the online shop suggests certain bumper bars in steel for the
front and the foot bar thing for the back, so any suggestions on this
and if they are indeed better as quoted on the online shop than the
Nissan ones, they look quality so interested in feedback for these.
Also, want to get the windows tinted and will do this next week
so anyone had any bad experiences with this as I'm pretty sure
the window tint film I'm picking which is the MEP Films, in the
Cybertint / Grange, range, is a good one through a company locally.
the company has been in business for 18 years and has links to the
manufacturer supplier of the window tint film to inform you of the type
and info of the film used and why etc, also updates you on the latest
legality of window tinting, effective August 2009 ,re the illegal dark
colours and how police will have patrol cars do spot checks and fine
them accordingly if needed.
Anyway after this rave will prob have no one reply to such a
waffler as never done this before and would like to see if I could
talk to someone that does the online shop products about the
products, as a novice, with this car, and the car products.
Also due to not being very car knowledgeable, I am going to organise
an independent vehicle inspection as not familiar with 4wdrive etc even though
we have a 3 year warranty covering all things mechanical
I have been given a price of $85 from a 4 wheel drive specialist mechanic in far western sydney to do this inspection for me so I think it will be worth it, even though I will have to
drive some distance to do this they seem really on the ball and professional
does anyone know what sort of things go first or are a possible mechanical
issue with these cars and particularly my model, 2006, I already found out
about the recall issues, and had the dealership check on their computer
if my particular car engine number had any outstanding recall issues on it
and they found none, and also no warranty work every done on it from
the original and one owner, so that was good also,

Now thats one of the longest intro posts I hace ever read. 
You'll love the X Trail as it will amaze you everyday.
As for mods, it really depends what kind of driving you want to do in it.
It will all come to you.

Hi Francis & Family; to the Forum, & the wonderful world of being an X-Trail Owner.
After reading your intro post, I'm nearly ready for a little lay down. 
All joking awside, you are in the right place to find out anything you want to know, about the Exy.
As Tony said, have a look at the members ride section, you will see what members have done to their Exy's.
Also, I have found that goodys from the online shop, are better quality, than a lot of the other after market stuff.
