Tom Tom 340
Hi All
Took a trip down to the local Domayne Store (Owned by the Harvey Norman Group) and purchased the Tom Tom 340 was almost going to go for the Tom Tom 730 however after reading some reviews and researching I just couldn't justify the real need for bluetooth...and yes I know I have always said I wanted bluetooth but with our current mobiles we find using loudspeaker is proven to be enough.
Anyways I'm going to be testing the GPS out over the next few months and happy to hear comments from others on the group who also have this gps or are wanting my feedback before the purchase. We previously had a Navman 720 (about 4 1/2 years old) that was just starting to play up.

Re: Tom Tom 340
I am not even going there... something about a "man" thing... I could not win in this household... I got 5 females and even the dog is a female... so it's "yes dear" and I go do my own thing....

I too am surrounded by females, the dog (male) has been snipped so I guess hes one of them too.
All you have to remember is to say "Yes Dear" and walk away.
Its a battle you can never, ever win.

I have a Tomtom go720 and when I use it find it invaluable.
The bluetooth is really good, clear and loud.
Its handy how you can store all of your phone numbers on it as well, just incase your phone karks it.
I do use the loudspeaker on the phone as well, just depends if I have the GPS with me.
There are other Tomtoms without bluetooth as well for around half the price with just about all the same features.

Re: Tom Tom 340
For those who have a GPS how far out is your Speedo compared what the GPS reckons your speed is? For me I've noticed around 5km difference (Speedo says 65 and Tom Tom says 60).
Have installed the Tom Tom PC Software and done the updates I think it's a easier device to use than the Navman...I used to sell GPS several years ago but we were mostly Navman, Uniden & the budget branded Navigat8r.

Re: Tom Tom 340
The difference between my GPS and the speedo is 2kms/hour. The GPS matches the speed displayed on my HUD though, so I have 3 sources of speed reference in front of me to choose from I always follow the one on the HUD as it is the most accurate.

Re: Tom Tom 340
Hi Folks,
I have a Tom Tom GO 910. I have had it for about 2-3 years now, although it is top of the range I believe, I bought it on Ebay at a good price. I have never seen this model gps in the shops. It has all the bells & whistles including a remote control for use by a passenger in the back seat plus phone, photo, red light camera warning & points of interest details etc.
I have never used the remote to date. ( not sure what its purpose is really ) The Gps is very user friendly & has all the features you would ever need plus more. It is easy to update from the TomTom Web site. A great little device & has proven to be accurate even on little back tracks /dirt roads such as our trip from the Putty Rd to Woolombi a few months ago.

Re: Tom Tom 340
I too have a Tom Tom and wonder if others are finding the same problem I have.
I have updated it over time with the owners corrections and am starting to find more and more speed limits are now lower than the actual posted limits, ie shows 90 when the posted limit is 100, shows 70 or 60 when the actual limit is 80 etc. These are on roads that I know and the limits have not changed, eg M7 (in Sydney).
I have the feeling someone is white anting the system with the mis guided intention of slowing traffic - or is it only me that is finding this to be the case?
