Re: Anyone go to Moana (SA) beach much???
Howdy yep we take the kids down there quite often. It gets very popular on austalia day too!
Moana can get a little chopped up as you said at the entrance and its fine unless the tide is in as its quite soft up the top, nothing our xcies cant handle.
If you get a spare day, go for a drive down Moana, then head down to Aldinga. There are 2 beaches at Aldinga (Aldinga beach, and Silver Sands) both of which are quite easy to drive along, and good to pull up down near sellicks to flick a lure in (i can show you a good spot if you are into fishing!) Kids love it and its good to bring a BBQ down with a sun shade and relax. Sometimes hoons go down there so keep an eye on the kids.
If you want a little bit more of a challenge head down to Goolwa. You enter the beach from the car park, and you can go either left ot right. Just dont stop in the entrance as you will get bogged!
Goolwa beach is great for a family outing, and if you like fishing you can drive down the beach to the murray mouth. If you head down there id suggest letting your tyres down (staun tyre deflators are the go) as it can get pretty boggy. I love going down there as normal 2WD's would really struggle to get though so its quieter. Good fishing too sometimes, mulloway, salmon.
another place that is pretty easy but give you a feel is deep creek (camping).
I havnt taken my my xcy down to salt creek or 42mile crossing but ive done it in my old patrol and that was hard enough! That was years ago..
Maybe we can do a "Beach Adventure" for a meet up? just have to make sure people have the right gear etc
Im organising a trip outside the forum down to Browns Beach (Yorkes) on the next full moon to catch some Australian Salmon (bugguns)!. If you are interested PM or call me

Re: Anyone go to Moana (SA) beach much???
Guys,
How come this thread is not posted in the "events and meet-ups"?
P.S. Andrew: Since you're using the forum to coordinate the next outing, it can no longer be considered "outside of the forum" event

Re: Anyone go to Moana (SA) beach much???
yeah sorry dude, i didnt really mean for this thread to be a 'forum meetup' i was more wondering how many xtrails have been to Moana.
i almost got stuck going down as i left ESP ON, also didnt bother to deflate tires at all.
ALSO, i went home the long way to day - went via Pine rd, which is out the back of Happy Valley - runs along the Golf Course - its a dirt road. Pimpalla Road comes up to it and it turns into a rutted track. I went up it and was impressed with the standard tires and how it just motored up! (Google map it - Pimpala Rd & Pine Rd Woodcroft/Happy Valley)

Re: Anyone go to Moana (SA) beach much???
Roman - Awesome. I havn't been game to head over to 42 in the x-trail - probably cause the last time i went there in the Patrol there were huge ruts and you could only drive right up against the dunes. Sounds like we should get some pillies together and head down there now that summer is nearly here!
