Re: Independent vehicle inspection
Hi Frances,
NRMA have a pretty good fleet of mechanics who do the independent inspection, so you can give them a buzz and ask how much would it cost.

Re: Independent vehicle inspection
Thanks jalal for the NRMA reply, well aware of this service, but wanted to get 4WDrive experienced mechanics to go over the car. For interest sake,
I found a company in a town called Barnsley, approx 1.20 mns further north of C.Coast.
Out Of Town 4WD
www.oot4wd.com.au
They are 4WD Mechanic specialists, custom/body building for 4wdrives etc.
They get people coming to them from everywhere, Sydney, Central Coast, North Coast, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie etc.
The company now incorporates four major arms -
sales, mechanical workshop, manufacturing, and driver training & tag-along tours.
The still current owner from 1977, runs this large business on a large site at Barnsley
the web address is: www.oot4wd.com.au

Re: Independent vehicle inspection
NRMA do inspections for all types of cars, not just sedans.
Your post about this company in Barnsley sounds more like a sales introduction/advert I must admit.
Are you affiliated with them at all or know someone who works there?

Re: Independent vehicle inspection
It doesn't offend me at all, just wanted to make sure that if the business has requested you to be promoted on our site (and others), the correct process of commercial advertising is followed as per our forum rules.
We certainly welcome recommendations from our members of good customer service and conduct based on first hand experience by the members of such businesses.

Re: Independent vehicle inspection
Okay got the message Jalal, understand this forum thing has a serious side to it regarding
legalities, advertising, etc, so won't do this again. I tend to become enthusiastic when
it appears that a decent find may assist others, tend to share info.
I had already emailed you about this company regarding their info, in light of the fact that you are the administrator and may appreciate the feedback, so will keep any more finds along the way to emailing you first and let you work it out from there, as it must be a lot to monitor such a popular and large forum as this, so well done, and will keep within the guidelines understandably.
Cheers

Re: Independent vehicle inspection
Hi Frances.
from what I have seen, since being a member, this Forum thrives on input from members; be it good/bad stories about repairers, stealerships, or accessory shops
If you find anyone who offers great sales/customer service, please share it with all of us.

Dont we all??
Sorry I cant help you out with inspection details, I'm a bit further up the coast.
All I can say is, if you feel comfortable with these guys, go for it.

Re: Independent vehicle inspection
For what its worth I had dealings with these guys when I first got bitten by the 4WD bug in the early 1980's and was pleasantly surprised to see they are still in business with the same owners. I guess they must be doing something right.
When it comes to vehicle inspections its important to be able to trust the poeple you get to do the job so as John said if these guys put you at ease go for it.

reply and feedback on independent vehicle inspection
Hi John & Melinda and Alan & Phillipa and Jalal
How exciting to get another reply, never used forums before so it actually
works. Jalal has been very patient with me thank goodness and I totally get the
tricky side of forums now. But back to my inspection, I actually had it done today
and they were great and so helpful and it was less than originally quoted as
took 1 hour as all was in good working order with my car they took off the
wheels etc and checked things out thoroughly, so very pleased.
I am going to now have my car windows tinted as this is needed big time after
driving nearly 300kms including a visit to my brothers house along the way
with the inspection. The weather today was very cloudy and lots of glare all day long
so can't wait to get the tinting done will do this next week.
I also want to buy the front bumper bar thing and the back step bar bumper bar thing
also, but have notice some of you commenting on how the silver bumper bars
tend to blind people in the middle of the day in the sun, as the silver makes them glare
in people's eyes, so wondering about that factor of doing this, any advice.
As have driven ford station wagons for 20 years and so not used to having a very
short back end, and a high raised bonnet and shorter front end, when parking,
quite tricky and I am a good parker for that matter, never had a problem with reversing
or anything or tight corners.
Still struggling with the whole spacial judement with such a shorter length car and
also not as wide, so thought the bumper bar at the front will help me be a little less
afraid when not knowing when quite to stop with parking front in towards something.
Its really nice to have feedback about things, loving my new car and the mannual driving again also after 20 years.
Wondering do you need to tint the sunroof area, aside from the remainder of the car, as we have a sunroof. How do I put my Car Info in, as I notice that when everyone types their blogs in they have their car specs at the bottom how do you do this, anyone got idea,
cheers Frances
