Re: The Platinum Projectile

Cheers, ive been getting some looks at the calipers by a few people. My mates now want to to paint their brakes but were like "why'd you paint the pads green?" haha i told them they came like that. For those that are interested and dont already have the slotted rotors i paid $190 for the pair but thats including $20 freight to canberra cos they only had them in sydney.
ive just been keeping things simple in the engine bay, i put iridium spark plugs in today and was thinking about hiding most of my engine wiring (esp the chunk of wiring that comes over the top of the manifold for the coil packs) and putting some corrigated cable cover on some other sections of wiring and re-routing it.

posticon Re: The Platinum Projectile

Extending that loom over the manifold (bigger conductors and soldering) was my option...tuck everything away with no voltage loss. The CAI gets rid of most of the "junk" and opens it up well. Did you try and match your Septone to your body code at all? Thinking match the paint on body and brakes.. and clear coat afterwards...(heatproof)..
 emoticon
feasable?

Re: The Platinum Projectile

i was going to try re-routing the wiring first and hopefully wont have to extend it at all or very little. the CAI does neaten things up, the factory airbox is over complicated i think. no i didnt even think about looking for a brake caliper paint to match the exterior colour, would have had that nice factory look about it. i havent seen heatproof clear coat before, does it exist? i was thinking if you used a normal spray paint and then topped it with a heat proof clear, would probably burn up still? i think it might?

did my 40K service and switched to full synthetic castrol edge sport on the weekend

Looks nice Taylor. Are you sure that touch-up paint won't bubble-up with all that heat in the engine bay?

Re: The Platinum Projectile

ok so far the painted lettering on the rocker cover hasnt discoloured or blistered or peeled up due to the head. its only been 2 days with nothing more than a 40 min trip. maybe il stay away from it with the high pressure gun at the laserwash hahah

Re: The Platinum Projectile

Finally got around to painting my rear brake calipers last weekend, i wanted to wait til my rear pads were due to be replaced til i painted them and fitted my EBC greenstuff pads. But now all my calipers are painted and running EBC green stuff pads on all four corners. Next modification is the long awaited lowering of my T30

Heres some pics of the paint job on the rear calipers. (good quality shot on 2nd pic)
