Re: The Platinum Projectile
haha yeh thanks i did tidy up the engine bay alittle.
i love my headunit too bits, good looks, good sound and i like the user interface also very easy to use with an ipod, doesnt play CD's though, only digital media (ipod, USB w/ MP3s etc). the system cranked before with front alpine splits and alpine HU with factory rears (soon to be changed) but then i added the sub and it tops it off nicely. you can buy bits and pieces to suit like bluetooth, cd stackers and their 'imprint' module ($$$) which automatically tunes itself for best sound in that shape of car and with the speakers available.
i got my speakers from JB- hifi (got my sub and amp and wiring kit from them too, soooo cheap they like 50% off it all cos i bought it as a job lot) and if you say you saw them at another place for X amount cheaper they usually drop the price big time. got the HU from audiotech in tuggeranong because they are a alpine dealer and no one had any iDA-X100 in canberra (only x001,x200,x300) and because i installed it myself they gave it too me heaps cheaper (about 520?) than they sell them from now retail (seen them 599 redued from 649).

Re: The Platinum Projectile
Awesome, thanks for the info Taylor. That helps alot, as nothing beats hearing about personal experience with a brand. I def think Alpine is the way to go.
Excellent to hear that Audiotech will give you $$ off if you install yourself. Done a bunch of HU installs myself before so to know you can benefit just on that basis is great. Spoke to Autobarn here in Orange and they said they can't really do deals on Alpine....maybe 50 bucks off if I'm lucky! After that I thought I def need to go to Syd or Canberra...turns out I was right in that thinking

Re: The Platinum Projectile
also i guess the old "how much cheaper for cash" line doesnt hurt either, some places might jump at it. might help to price match to because alot of the time most places try beat it by 10%
