Re: Blue Max (Taras Terror)
There is no way NO rain got in...whether it all flowed out the back of the snorkel head as it is described is doubtful. The moisture that entered should be sitting in the "s" bend below the air filter, where it should evaporate. I physicaly shook and felt that piping however, and couldnt feel or hear any water though.
it is the lowest point, so it isnt sitting anywhere else.

Re: Blue Max (Taras Terror)
Maybe being water droplets, the engine burnt it just like some water injection systems ?

Re: Blue Max (Taras Terror)
To be honest Kev I would say that, regardless of the force of rain, NO water actually gets through the filter, and into the engine via the MAF.
The base of the filter wasn't wet or damp. No water had collected in the base of the filter box at all. The difference in direction for the water, from into the snorkel on an angle, down the snorkel piping, reverse couse to through the "s" bend and enter the filter housing, is working.
Any water droplets actually inside the snorkel itself must be small, and in such a limited volume that I couldnt hear or feel any in the "s" bend. ie most of it must exit the snorkel head as advertised, via the slots. I checked immediately after pulling out of the rain into the garage, and again an hour later.
And again this morning before leaving work.
I did try an airtek snorkel head off a patrol at work today, perfect fit and looks better due to the fact it has a bug grill on the front. Bigger input area as well. When I pulled it off the Patrol , a shedload of small inseccts were trapped in the drainage holes, so this tells me the snorkel heads do act "as advertised"
Pic attached....steam powered mobile so apologise for the poor quality
Thanks for the comments Nissan....its working really well and am pretty stoked with it
