Re: hiimkam's TrboXtrl Project - edited 19/8 ~ 3 weeks to go!!
Yeh almost there indeed, got 90% of the exhaust done on Sunday, I'll finish it this weekend and post up the pics!
I'm still in the process of finding a turbo beanie for my turbo, that, along with the other heat shields are the icing on the cake, I myself is paranoid about heat in the engine bay, so i doubt itll go unconsidered... most if not all RB motors with high mount turbos hold them very close to the rocket cover with no issues so i guess its the same story, but that said, i might invest in some heat covers for that side of the rocker cover too...
RE the manifold, your quite correct, it is just mild steel, think i meant to say that as opposed to cast. my bad haha
UPDATE
I've had it started up with just the dump on and its already got a different note, the turbo spools up good, even under no load, and makes one mean sounding whistle! I predict it'll start making boost at about 3k give or take 500rpm. Which IMO, is perfect. Oil lines are hooked up, the return line was drilled into the pan easily with the bulk head fitting, and oil pressure is still a steady 100psi on cold startup, no leaks. Intercooler piping looks a tad tricky (this weekend's job) lot of bending and squashing, along with bumper trimming i think, but ill get there.
Stay tuned, big report this weekend.

Re: hiimkam's TrboXtrl Project - edited 19/8 ~ 3 weeks to go!!
top stuff. yeh i guess if you got some tin and bent, cut and drilled it you could use the bolts on the front edge of the rocker cover to hold a custom heat shield in place. the last intercooler i fitted was on a mates s13 silvia with s15 200sx front and the air intake section of the bar was too deep and fouled on the cooler upon refitting so it was cut back and it was perfectly square with almost no gap between cooler and bar. good luck

Did you cut the balancer shaft chain off or something?

Oh cool, I saw the balancer shafts and couldn't see the chain, so I thought it was gone

It is all a snug fit Cam.
Looks like a well thought out fitting.
Just wondering why the 90deg angle cut in the intercooler piping rather than the usual bend ? I assume space was the guiding factor.
