Rich,
This information (if Cam is willing to disclose it) is better posted in the aftermarket exhaust thread.
Secondly, why are you asking? Have you been given the approval to proceed with modifying your exy? 
Third, those interested can approach Cam by PM or Email if he doesn't want this information to be made public.

Hey guys.
finally getting round to posting somepics of the exhaust fabrication/installation.
best part about this story is....
yesterday i visited a vehicle inspection centre to have everything checked out and tested (emmissions and noise) and BORIS had no problems at all.
the guy there pulled my car up on a hoist and inspected all the welds, joins and hangers, and he said its one of the best (neatest) DIY jobs hed seen for a wile. i cant take much of the claim for that as i didnt do much of the welding (just the tacking) but im still pretty stoked. he held some handheld device up the my exhaust and before you ask i didnt get to see what the readings were but he said it passed easily. he just did a by-ear check (shouldnt he have used a device to measure the noise levels???) but he didnt have any issues. ( i was suprised, i think its actually quite loud!)
i was in and out in 30 mins!
basically, it consists of the wrapped OBX racing headers, stock front pipe, the 3' cat just after the front pipe, 2 hotdog mufflers, and a small resonator (like a cannon) just before the tip. (everything is 2.25in)
we were able to keep all the stock hangers and the front two flanges so it fits snug and tight.
in the end i decided to go with the heat wrap after heaps of research and consultation with muffler shops, they said stainless ones are fine in terms of cracking, the only problem is the smoking they make when you first start it up (as i soon discovered), but that stopped after 10 mins or so.
all up the prices were:
OBX racing headers = $250 + $52 shipping from ebay
mufflers, resonator and 2.25' mandrel bent steel piping + bends = $110
3' cat converter = $165
carton of coldies for my mate who helped me = $30
TOTAL: $577 + free installation (exc. the beer)

it goes without saying that i cant compare to the hitech system in terms of MAX power increase, gurantees, quality, durability etc... I am in now way out there to stick it in Jalal's face saying "i did it for a 1/6th of the price!  " This just demonstrates that if you are willing to take a risk (i guess that comes to with being young) and do things yourself (with appropriate guidance) you will sometimes be rewarded.
and yes, the power increase in mental. it pulls from any rev range now and hosts a large increase in the mid and high ranges. any speed in 1st gear, if i just flatten the accellerator i will just spin same almost goes for 2nd.
"i just cant seem to keep traction through the first two gears these days..."

Please move (or copy) the exhaust post to the aftermarket exhaust section of the forum as it will help others as well.
Nice effort indeed, but I wouldn't be too excited about that wrap you have there on the headers. It's no even properly wrapped as a thermal wrap would normally be applied to each pipe separately. How's the engine bay heat?

The price of an such an important modification was not one of the motives for me (personally) doing it, it's the proven results, durability and the huge warranty and craftsmanship of the exhaust system that made it appeal to me personally, so while I congratulate you on taking the risk (as you said it), I wouldn't have done it to my own xtrail had I not seen someone do it before me The noise level of any aftermarket set-up was always a great concern of mine and I've seen some xtrails on the road that sound like tractors with those cheap mufflers hanging at the back, but from your feedback received so far, yours is not like that, so am pretty happy with what you have achieved and as long as you are happy with it, there is no need to stick anything in my face as am not gaining anything out of it except the knowledge of giving you the motivation to do it and the confidence in letting you know that it can be done with the Hi-Tech system or others.

Cam,
Where the cat set-up and what type of cat. converter did you install?
I'm happy to hear that is passed the inspection, usually the inspectors can tell if it's above the legal noise levels and only then use the noise level measuring device to confirm it, so I reckon in your case he just deemed it acceptable which is great.
