"In the spotlight"

I decided to continue the spotlight fan fiction. Next will be AvFan4vr! If any of you would like to participate in this (like in the other forum) please PM me.

For those of you who never heard of this, every week, I chose someone to re-write a scene from any Anne movie (I will accept scenes from the books in some exceptions if you PM me) and then post it in this topic. You can re-write the scene exacly the way you want it.

Rules;

-Your story can only be one post (it can be as long as you want as long as it's only in one post so people don't get to confused)

-When I do polls so see who goes next, you can not vote for yourself

-I will PM you to let you know when it's your turn

I can't wait to see what creative scenes everyone comes up with emoticon emoticon emoticon

Re: "In the spotlight"

Sweet! This is the craziest fanfic I've ever written. Beware.

Anne of Green Gables…I mean, the Big Yellow House.

Introduction
“Ya know Rachel, I’ve always wanted a girl, but instead we’ve had 4 boys.” Thomas Lynde said to his wife Rachel as they were having breakfast one day.
“Well, I’m kinda out of theat stage in life Thomas.” Rachel replied. “Duhh…”
“Well, we can adopt a girl. Mrs. Spencer over there adopted a girl and shes been a great help.”
“We are not adopting a girl.” Rachel said firmly. Thomas sighed.

Meet Anne!
Thomas Lynde drove his station wagon to town one day to pick up a couple of gardening tools.
“Alice, I’d like a hoe and some sunflower seeds, and some June Lily seeds.”
“Coming right up.” Alice handed him what he wanted.
”Thanks Alice.” Thomas was off. For some reason, he took the long route home. He stopped suddenly when he saw this young girl about 16 walking slowly. She had firey red hair and was very pale. Her jeans were muddy and ripped and her tee shirt was old and read “punk” on the back. She looked lonely. Thomas stopped.
“Hello? Don’t think I’ve seen you around these parts.” Thomas said kindly.
“Please don’t shoot me! I was just looking for food!” The girl falling on her knees begging dramatically.
“Relax. I’m Thomas Lynde.”
”My name is Anne Shir-ley. Anne is spelled with an E. I don’t gotta penny on me, can you see?” Anne rapped. Thomas was stunned.
“Ok…wow. Anne, how about you come home with me and I’ll get you some food and you can meet my wife.”
”You want me to eat your wife??” Anne asked incredulously.
“No…meet.” Thomas said emphasizing the meet.
“Yeah, you want me to MEAT your wife?” Anne asked.
“That’s what I said.”
“Ok.”
Thomas and Anne drove to the Lynde Farm.
“Dude…you gots yourself a nice house.” Anne said. Rachel Lynde ran out the door.
“That your woman?” Anne asked. “Waddup homeskillet. Dude…you shouldn’t be eaten.”
“What??? Thomas! Who is that!?” Rachel exclaimed.
“This is Anne. She’s an orphan and shes hungry. Rachel, please get the poor child food.”
Rachel and Thomas went inside while Anne sat down on the porch swing.
“Whats the idea, Thomas?! We can’t keep her!!”
“Oh please Rachel! She’s so sweet, and sure rough around the edges…but after she goes to church and school and stuff, she’ll be ok.”
“I don’t know Thomas…the idea of an orphan…”
”People will think of you as a great benefactress.”
”Then we’ll keep her, until she can find a home. And she’s going to school on Monday.”
Anne got along ok with Rachel and Thomas. They were kind to her and Anne soon colored and fattened up. They also got used to her quirky phrases.

Meet the Neighbors
“Rachel! What is the meaning of this?!” Marilla Cuthbert demanded marching into the Lynde home.
“Good morning Marilla.” Rachel sighed.
“You adopted an orphan?!?!?!” Marilla exclaimed.
“Yup. She’s cool. She can rap and dance and paint!” Rachel said. Anne chose that moment to walk in.
“Hey Rachel who’s your homeskillet biscuit?” Anne asked.
”This is a good friend of mine, Marilla, this is Anne.”
“Wassup! You got a crib anywhere near here?” Anne asked. Marilla looked at Rachel questionally.
“Your house.” Rachel explained.
“Oh. Yeah, its over the hill.”
”Sweet.” Anne said. “You are a kindred spirit after all. Not an ogre like I thought.”
”Gee…uh thanks?” Marilla said.

School
Anne walked to school on Monday with a new outfit. She felt fresh and clean for once in her life. As she walked to her homeroom, she took a seat. Everyone looked at her and whispered amongst eachother. One girl with raven black hair looked at her with a sniff.
“Oh she’s just some orphan the Lynde’s adopted.” The girl said. “She’s just lowly stuff.”
“Who are you? The queen of England?” Anne retorted.
“Shut up Diana.” A blonde girl said sitting next to Anne. “Hi, I’m Joise Pye. Whats your name?”
“Anne Shirley. Who’s the big mouth with the fro lookin hair?” Anne asked loudly. Everyone oohed.
“That’s Diana. Shes a brat.” Josie said, then adding quietly, “And her boyfriend is the hunk over there. He’s captain of the football team, hockey team and basketball team. And he has an 8 pack.”
“What a hottie!” Anne said.
“Yeah, his name is Gilbert Blythe.” Josie said as they watched Gilbert in his Varsity jacket flex and show off. He noticed Anne and winked at her. Diana rolled her eyes then preceded to flirt with him.
“Ok, class! The bell has rung!” The teacher said. “Welcome Miss Shirley to Avonlea. I hope you will enjoy your stay here.”
”Thanks.”
“Ok, turn to page 159 and start reading.” Mr. Philips said. Gilbert happened to sit across the aisle from Anne.
“Hey…hey!” Gilbert hissed. Anne ignored him. “Hey Carrots!!”
Anne jerked her head up. “How--!” Anne stopped when she saw Diana smirk. Anne thought quick. Despite the fact that she hated being called Carrots, she exclaimed, “How Sweet of you Gilbert to welcome me!!!” Then Anne gave him a long smackaroosy on the lipsys. (In other words she kissed him.) Josie looked at her in awe. Diana ran out of the room crying. Mr. Philips didn’t care. Everyone oohed.
“Wow.” Gilbert said. “Lets get hitched!”
”Hitched to a wagon? Why?” Anne asked.
“No, lets get married!”
“Ok!” So Anne and Gilbert skipped town, changed their identities, went to Las Vegas got married, and was never seen from again.

The End.

Re: "In the spotlight"

quote:

“Yeah, you want me to MEAT your wife?” Anne asked.

 emoticon

Okie-dokie. I wrote this a long time ago and posted it on the forum. A few may remember reading this. I did edit it.

The first scene is an abbreviated New York part from Anne3. The second rewritten part is an addition to the part after the fire gets put out at Green Gables.

Anne was delivering a letter to Jack for Mr. Winfield. She was suddenly nervous. What had Mr. Winfield meant when he told her not to let Jack lay a finger on her. Suppressing her fears she knocked on Jack's door. She heard someone coughing. Was she knocking on the wrong door? No, it said 308. Oh wait! She could hear someone approaching the door.
Jack quickly swung the door open. “Ah Anne, what are you doing here? Did you come here just to see me?” Jack questioned hopefully.
“Indeed not Mr. Garrison.” Anne retorted. “I am delivering a message for Mr. Winfield.” Anne's fears were increasing.
“Well, come in.”
“I'd rather not, Mr. Garrison.” Anne said firmly.
But Jack ignored her and dragged her into his apartment. They entered the apartment and Anne wriggled out of Jack's grasp. “Please, Mr. Garrison, if you do that again, I shall leave without your reply.” Anne angrily said.
Jack read the letter; becoming angry, he furiously scratched out a reply. He then sealed it in an envelope and handed it to Anne.
Anne turned around quickly ready to leave, but Jack once again grabbed her arm, swinging her around to face him.
“Anne, please, don't go! I want to talk to you! I want you to know how much I admire you... I'm in love with you!” Jack quickly seized Anne's hand and kissed it.
“JACK!” Anne yelled, slapping his cheek.
Her slap momentarily stunned Jack, and she fled the room.

Gilbert was becoming worried. He vaguely remembered Anne mentioning that she had to visit Jack pertaining to work, but he couldn't remember for sure. He'd had a lot on his mind, and just now reached his decision. He was going back to Avonlea for good. He was tired of Doc Stuart trying to make him be something that he couldn't become. He wasn't sure what Anne would think. He knew she would be willing to leave, but wasn't sure if she was ready to leave.
Gilbert suddenly heard the stomp of feet and an apartment door slam. He wondered if the person was Anne and decided to look into it. He knocked on her door. No one answered, yet he thought that he could hear crying.
“Anne, are you in there?” Gilbert inquired. He thought that he heard a yes but wasn't certain. “May I come in?” This time he heard a definite yes.
He entered the apartment to find Anne sitting on the floor sobbing. “Anne, what's wrong?”
She didn't answer, but started to cry all the harder.
“Are you hurt?”
She shook her head. “What's wrong then?”
Anne let off some on her crying and stood up. She paced the room for a few moments then walked over to Gilbert, and began crying on his shoulder. After several minutes she ceased crying, and sat down on the couch. Gilbert walked into the kitchen and made a strong pot of tea. When the tea was hot, Gilbert took a cup to Anne.
“Here you go. Now tell me everything.” he said gently. Anne complied.
“Well, as you know, I had to deliver a letter to Jack for Mr. Winfield.” Anne began. “After Jack read the letter and wrote the reply I turned to leave. Jack grabbed me and told me that he admired and love me.”
Gilbert started turning red.
“Then he seized my hand and kissed it.”
Gil muttered something under his breathe.
“I slapped him on the cheek.”
“Good for you Anne!” exclaimed a very red Gilbert.
“That momentarily stunned him and I ran out of the room. You know the rest Gil.” Anne took a long sip of her tea, sighed, and fought to keep from crying again.
“Oh Anne! I'm so sorry!” said an ashen faced Gilbert. “You told me that he was a flirt, but I never dreamed that he would do something like that!”
“Gil, I'm going home even if you don't want me to.”
“Anne, I decided a little earlier to leave also. I'm tired of Doc Stuart pressing me to be someone that I'm not.”
Anne let out a sigh of relief. “Gil, will you go with me to tell Mr. Winfield that I am leaving? I want you to be with me in case Jack is there. I will write Mr. Winfield an explanation why I am leaving.”
“Anne, I would die before I let you go there without me. I don't want Jack to take advantage of you again. I also need to tell Doc Stuart. Maybe if you're with me he wont become so angry.”
After a few minutes silence Gilbert said “Well, if you're all right I'll go back to my place and see you in the morning.” Gil gave Anne a quick peck on the cheek and left Anne's apartment.

The next day Anne and Gilbert went into Mr. Winfield's office.
“Mr Winfield,” Anne began. “My fiancé and I are returning to P.E.I. I would like my pay, so I can leave”.
“How interesting. Jack also quit this morning; he told me that you had his reply.”
“Oh, here it is.” Anne sighed deeply. “I typed this out last night to give to you.” She handed him another envelope. “This is the real reason I'm leaving. I didn't think I would be able to tell you with.....” Anne stopped and Gilbert gave Anne a reassuring pat.
Mr. Winfield quickly read it and looked pensive for a moment. He pulled out a drawer and put Anne's wages in a envelope.
“Here's your pay. I'm very sorry for what happened. I shall warn other publishing houses in New York about Jack. “ He handed Anne the envelope. “I also put a little extra in for the... inconvenience that happened. I knew that he tended to drink at night and shouldn't have sent you over.”
Anne looked in the envelope, and her eyes grew big. “Mr. Winfield, this is much to generous!”
“I don't believe it is. You see, when Jack told me that he was quitting, I decided that you would receive Jack's job. You have been one of the best editor's I have ever had. Also, if you choose to work for another publishing house, let me know, and I will give you a letter of high recommendation.
“Thank you sir.” Anne said with a big smile.
As Gilbert and Anne left the building Gilbert said “I just hope that Doc Stuart will be that easy.”
“Maybe he will, but I can't imagine that he could be as generous as Mr. Winfield was.”

And he wasn't. Doc Stuart became really upset.
“Gilbert, please. I was planning to have you fill my shoes when I retired.”
“Thank you sir, but I would never accept a job so far from home. I promised Anne that I would go back to P.E.I. To raise a family, and that is what I am going to do.”
“Gilbert! You will be the head of the house! You shouldn't let your fiancé say where you will live! Think of your future here!”
“I'm sorry sir, but I promised Anne, and I'm not about to break that promise.”
“Fine then go!” bellowed Doc Stuart. “You'll realize one day the mistake that you made.”
Gilbert and Anne did go. They packed their bags and boarded the next train going to Montreal. Once they were in Montreal they sent a telegram to the Wrights to let them know that they were coming home, and when to pick them up at Carmody.

(re-enters the movie and breaks out again at when the fire at GG is put out.)

“Anne, please, let me go with a free conscious. You have no idea how hard this is for me. I'll feel even worse if you stay mad....” Gilbert broke off suddenly when he saw that look on Anne's face.
“You can go... I'll marry you... but Gil promise me you will use your head when you are over there....” Two large tears started to meander down Anne's cheeks. Gilbert gently wiped them away.
“Anne, I promise. I will write to you whenever I can- but I- can't guarantee- that I will come home in one piece.” Gilbert swallowed hard to keep the emotion from his voice. “Anne, I love you, this is the hardest thing that I have ever done... you have no idea how much I want to stay- and start a family...” Gilbert stopped and swallowed again. “But I can't let those men out there die of neglect on the way home- they will have a better chance if they receive help.... what if Fred is injured- what if I would save his life- just think Anne, I will save someone's husband, brother, son, father....” Gilbert stopped trying desperately to keep tears from falling, but didn't succeed.
“Gil, you did such a good job of reassuring yourself and me- I would feel selfish if I didn't let you go with a free conscious. It's just that I never can escape from the fact that everything that I have ever loved is taken away from me.” Anne stopped and hiccuped. Tears started streaming down her face.
Gilbert sighed in relief. Anne had been keeping her feelings bottled tight for the last few days ,and he was glad that she was finally releasing them. He glanced around to make sure no one was looking and kissed Anne.
There was a moment silence between them and Anne said, “You know Gil, I feel somewhat better now. You'll be a great doctor one day. If you can talk to all of your patients like that, your job will be easy.”
“That wasn't as easy as it seemed, Anne. iIt's not easy to speak from your heart.”

(re-enters the movie)
