How much do you need the Sun ?
I have been whining to people about the lack of sun.It is a Dutch custom, our climate is a bit more wet as England even.
The " Dark Days Before Christmas" is an expression. They start at the beginning of November normaly.
A stubborn Southern wind has blown warm winds to us for weeks, with a lot of moist. Rain and storm. One of the reasons I am glad when it is New Year is the fact, that it seems as if the curtains are opening suddenly. More crispy skies, more sun.
Although winter can always step in suddenly. Unpredictable.
No reason to complain when we hear the stories from the Canadians. Long winters, spring only catching up somewhere in May or June, where as we see the first flowers blooming in March.
We don't take our vacations in hot area's.
22 celcius is fine for us.
We spend one long holiday in Scotland some years ago in summer. A lot of Spanish long-distance walkers. They were very frustrated, because it was a real heatwave for weeks, instead of the rain and cold they hoped for.
Reason for posting this poll is an article in the news about some Italian Alp-villages.
A few of them only see the sun a few months a year, because they are on the North -side of the mountain.
6 or 8 months living in the shadow. Causing high energy-bills.
One village , Viganella, has put a giant computer-controlled mirror on top of the mountain. Sun from 9.00 till 18.00.
Another village, Sedrina, has asked permisson to remove the top of the mountain to let the sun come in.
The only persons I can think of are Jojo7 and Faith, living like that. How do you cope with that ?
Another reason posting this is, because the sun IS shining at the moment, around noon
It will shine till the evening, that will start in a few hours...
Time to sign-out here and move around a bit !
When the flora and fauna have enough water, as much sun as possible please!

Re: How much do you need the Sun ?
If I have to walk somewhere, the sun is definitely nice.
Other than that, I don't mind cloudiness... I usually get to work early when it's dark and leave in the evening after the sun sets, so I was just telling a co-worker the other day of the Friday when I actually saw the sun!

Re: How much do you need the Sun ?
I get a ton of sun here in Texas. It's a bit dull to go home from work in the dark during the winter though, but I wouldn't say I needed the sun. I'd just prefer sunlight over electricity, since I like having very well-lit rooms for reading, etc.
