Everything Felix: Schemer and Money-maker

(Note: in replacement of our old Character topics.)

Felix King
September 30, 1894
(I snagged the date from Shell's site. This is the right one right?)

I don't know anyone who doesn't like him. My brothers thought he was the coolest when he was little. He was always the pesky mischievious little kid, who schemed and plotted with Sara for revenge against the reign of Cruella de Felicity.

Once Sara had grown out of the childish scheming and had moved onto more grown up endeavors, Felix found a new friend when she punched him in the nose to scheme with. I suppose that makes a girl irrisistable. Ah, the Fizz.

One of my favourite Felix episodes was the one at the old man Alexander Abraham's in season one, where he and Sara get stuck quarantined in the old man's house after Felicity dares Sara to go in and Felix tries to rescue her. (awww, dashing little Felix the hero ###).

So, in celebration of ten years since Avonlea this spring, do tell your favourite thoughts on him, and where and what you think he did with his life.

By the way - Shells has a very good biography of Felix and Iz on her website.

Originally, I snagged it from the long-defunct PurpleViolet's Avonlea Page (I thought her DOBs were, pretty much, spot on). So original credit goes to her. emoticon

I figured it was pretty much right on emoticon I wish that site was still around because I admit finding officialized things like birthdates are hard. Timelines and numbers and years in general seem to be hard for Sullivan at any rate emoticon

I really like how entrepreneurial Felix became, and I enjoyed his storylines at the hotel. I wish he didn't have that sudden career change in the series finale...

I love Felix. He has always been one of my favorite characters. I loved how he schemed with Sara when they were younger and then how he grew into a very fine-looking young man. emoticon

Up with Fizz!

I love Felix. emoticon Avonlea would not be the same without him.

My favorite episodes with him are Lonely Hearts, Love May Be Blind..., Total Eclispe, and Comings and Goings. Not to mention all the shows where was scheming away, like A Fox Tale. And actually every other show with him in it. Not matter if he was big or little. emoticon emoticon

I do think in the future that he started his own tea room and married Izzy. And had like 5 kids.

But I do wish he would have not joined the navy or the war or whatever. He should have just stayed in Avonlea.

Yes. Fizz definately has to have more kids than the rest of the clan. Partly because they deserve it and partly because it would definately create enough chaos and mischief. Rather appropriate, no?

Actually Felix had the choice to join the Navy, but not in joining up with the war. They still had conscription in the first world war, but even in the beginning in those days, boys were bound in their duty to Canada, to England and to the King to fight.
These ideals were ingrained into them, and any young man as honourable as Felix would have immediately jumped at the chance. In fact, society looked down greatly upon boys who stayed home - there were very few at home in those years. They were considered "yellow" or "chicken", very much a disgrace. In Rilla of Ingleside, the final LMM book, Walter, a peace lover, who did not wish to fight, ended up being forced to join up because of all the negative reaction he received everywhere he went.
So Felix, in who he was as a King and a person would never have resisted the call for war. He probably would have thought it a great adventure at first with him, Elbert and the other Avonlea boys whooping it up.
That is until the bloodied reality set in. Felix was VERY lucky to survive Vimy Ridge. We lost thousands upon thousands of young men that day, and nobody has ever forgotten it.

Thanks for correcting me Emily. emoticon Then Felix would have definitely joined the war especially because the whole "upholding the King honor" thing that Hetty was all about.
