Re: Everything Peter: Hired Hand and The Original Gus
I know a lot of people think the Peter we saw in the series was inferior, compared to the character as written in the books, but a lot of things were changed from the books and I thought the Peter as seen in Season 1 was a good character... perhaps not overly exciting and without too much of an edge, but an interesting and likeable character nonetheless, with a different background from the Kings, which could have been explored.
I agree he could have been paired with Cecily or perhaps Sara.

Re: Everything Peter: Hired Hand and The Original Gus
IMO, Cess + Peter = Fussy 2.0 = girl from prominent family + poor, (somewhat) uneducated guy. Years ago I would've agreed that it would've worked. Now...not so much. I think Cess needs her own man, someone who's nothing like Gus Pike or Peter (or, for that matter, Elbert).
I also don't see Peter with Sara. I don't think he would've been able to help manage her monetary affairs, nor do I think would he have been able to take care of her heart. And yes, I do think he was better-written in the books. In the series, he came off as too much of a softie and not all that assertive. I think if he were more like Book Peter, he would've gotten together with Felicity (a la the books), instead of having him--for all intents and purposes--be shelved for Gus Pike.

I think it's funny to think of Cess ending up with Shirley Blythe-the two forgotten children...ahahaha...
Though I guess if we're being picky, Cess can't really end up with anyone since Maud suggested that she died. As for PETER-I pretty much adore him in the books. He's the most adorable little thing in the world. So funny.
