Peter is really wonderful and I did like him very much. It's too bad he went down the story hole.
However, I agree with Bee and Shell that she is ill-suited to Peter. She needs someone with a more similiar background in that sense. Bee and I have hooked her up with Shirley Blythe in our fanfics - delightedly, I might add - because he was SO underestimated too! I think they'd get on very very well - kindred spirits and all of that. Additionally, both their roots are in Avonlea - Cess more than Shirley's granted, yet Avonlea was very much a second home to the Blythes.
They both came from more prominent families on the island and I think their families would have gotten on well.
Anyways, I'm off topic onto Free Cess when I should be focusing on Free Peter!!!
It would be very interesting to see what Peter was up to later. There is a great fanfic on Shelly's website about Peter at the great Halifax explosion.

Yes, he is very funny. He is one of the nicest boys I think I've seen in the series' - and he is incredibly kind to Sara when she first arrived in Avonlea and when her father died - I know this isn't about Sara, but my point is that it shows what a sweet heart he has.
He also reminds me some of Perry in the Emily books - except he's not QUITE as wild and mischievious.

I was thinking that too! I don't think they would have been Felicity and Gus 2, outside of the status comparison. Personality-wise, Cecily and Peter are both so quiet, sincere and drama-free. They could have had a very sweet, low-key romance, and together could have been suited to take care of the King farm. It would have been nice if someone mentioned Cecily while she was gone at the sanatorium too.

That's true... personality would have been key. Cecily is so different from Felicity, and Gus's uniqueness sets him apart from the more ordinary Peter.

Peter and Cecily together would have been very cute.
