Natural or Caesarean Birth?

So were you little ones born naturally or via C-Section?

Aiden came at 39 weeks and was born via C-Section...emergency one at that. He had been breach my entire pregnancy but my doctor when on vacation at one of my last check ups and the covering doc said Aiden was in position. He said his head was down and everything, which I found fishy because when Aiden had hiccups they were still in the same spot on my tum. So my doctor when he got back from Vaca. saw that the covering doc said he had flipped and thus thought that was the case.

Well on the day I went into labor I had been checked for galstones that am via u/s. The u/s tech told me Aiden was still breach and to let my doctor know by giving him a call on Monday. Little guy obviouly had other plans. LOL

Well I had been in predromal labor for a few weeks now (contractions that don't dialate you) and was told by the nurses at my hospital that they aren't real contractions when they start at three minutes apart...don't come in until you can't talk through them. It's your first baby it will take a long time...Your water will break...blah blah blah

So finally when we arrived at the hospital I was six cm's dialated, water still hadn't broken and oh yeah guys, he's breach!! So we got to the hospital at 11 pm on a Sat. evening and Mr. Aiden was delivered at 1:20. He had been in distress and they found miconiumin the water when they did break it. Thankfully all is well with him though.

He would have never been able to flip since I have a septum in my uterus, which my doc never realized until he saw it. It never showed up on MRI or CATScans. (I've had both for seperate medical reasons.) Plus the man was 9 lbs 4 oz w/ a head circ. of 14 cm...I'm glad he came out the short cut!

Re: Natural or Caesarean Birth?

I had vaginal births with all 3 of my kiddos. Jake (the first one) was an epidural birth and he came 2 weeks early on his own. Since I was pretty young and not married when I had him, my mom pretty much ran the show & told the doctors what to do. So I didn't have much say-so. When I got pregnant with Aidan I wanted a more natural birth...without any pain meds. I ended up being induced 2 weeks early due to gestational diabetes and did it without pain meds and he weighed 8lbs. 2oz. so I can't imagine how much he would've weighed if we had waited 2 more weeks!! I was going to be induced again with Sophia (2 weeks early) but she had plans of her own and decided to put me into labor about 7 hours before my actual induction time. I didn't want pain meds with her either but for some reason the contractions were so much more painful this time around so they gave me stadol which only lasted about 45 minutes and only put me to sleep in between contractions.

Luckily, for me, each delivery was pretty short...even the induced one. I think Jake's delivery lasted about 5 hours, Aidan's lasted (I arrived at the hospital at 7am but they didn't break my water or give me pitocin to get things going until 11am) about 4.5 hours, and with Sophia I got to the hospital around 3:30am or so and she was born at 8:15am.

Connor, my eldest, was an emergency C-section. He was gigantic, particularly compared to me - he was 23 inches long and 9 lb. 9 oz. We tried vaginal first (for two horrible hours after being in labor over 24!). I had been quite determined to have natural childbirth, so I hadn't had an epidural or anything. He wasn't breach, he just a giant head and wouldn't move. :P But he also ended up with his heart rate shooting up and such, which was why they did an emergency one. So he ended up being a C-section and I ended up with an epidural anyway. With my second, they didn't want to take the chance, so it was a scheduled C-section. No labor at all. And I'll tell ya - a scheduled C-section is the way to go, given the option! Of course, I got a nasty and rather painful post-operative infection, so I guess I traded the labor pains for that.

Ahhh...the pain meds....

I got a spinal. emoticon So all was good for a while there. emoticon

Addi that's a big man you had!!

If they had known that Aiden was still breach they would have scheduled my CSection.

For future kids (if there are any) we'll have to see. I'm supposed to have surgery to remove my septum thing going on in there. emoticon Depends on how big it is.

Both my kids were natural, I was always scared to DEATH of getting an epidural because the thought of a long needle going in my back totally SCARED me! Yeah I was a wus when it came to needles but yet I pushed 2 babies out of me,lol!
Gavin was born at 38 weeks, I was in labor with that stubborn boy for 2 days and only had meds through my IV.
Chloe was my early baby, she was born at 35 weeks and she came really fast, 2 pushes and she was all the way out in the docs hands and she wasn't expecting it! I told that dang doctor, but she didn't listen! I said she is coming and I need to push NOW, the stupid doctor was walking out of my room and I looked at my husband and I just had this look on my face and I started screaming in pain at that very second and 1 2 she was out! The doctor thankfully took clue to my scream and walked back into my room. emoticon

Re: Natural or Caesarean Brth?

I am new here, but I am gonne jump on in ...

I have had four babies, all almost natural. 3 of them I had pitocin with,
two of them were 5 weeks early!

My longest labour was 4 h 5 mins, my shortes 2 minutes!

My 2 minute labour was awesome, I gave birth standing up in the bathroom at the hospital LOL I was admitted 20 minutes previous because I was unwell and so on emoticon
