Re: Weekly Menu's
Oh it helps so much with grocery shopping! I spend far less if I plan my menu ahead of time.

Re: Weekly Menu's
I plan in that manner, but not for which days I'm going to serve what. Basically, I figure - ok, 7 nights worth of meals, etc. I also stock up on non-perishables when there's sales. Speaking of which, if you're in the US, Banquet just came out with ready-made meals, and around here they're on sale cheap because they're trying to compete with the Betty Crocker brand of the same thing. The BC one is $6; Banquet is $3 right now - don't know how long that'll last - but the chicken and biscuits one is really good (whole family loves it), one box will easily feed a family of 4, and at the moment it's a great price. Just thought I'd share (I bought 5 at the grocery store today - making it every other week-ish, that should last several months). Add in a salad or veggie and drinks, and it feeds a family of 4 + toddler for about $6, which is pretty darn good!
Another one that's inexpensive that my family loves and that's really easy is probably not something you'd be familiar with unless you're Jewish (or camp alot), but in the ethnic section there's soup mixes that are really easy to make - just add water and let simmer for an hour.
Here's a link with a picture: http://www.manischewitz.com/docs/man_36.shtml
The one to use is the "cello soup" - the one in the long package at the bottom of the screen - get Ministrone, and get two (you can cook both at once, just double the water). Then get one of those canned chicken breast things (the big can), and add it into the soup about 5 minutes before the cook time is done. I do that one with Texas cheese toast. The soup mixes cost about $1 each usually (sometimes as high as $1.50), adn the chicken runs around $4 (I get lowfat, which is a bit more expensive). So, with drinks, that's feeding the whole family for around $8. And both of those are really really easy to make and are favorites - the kids request them.

Re: Weekly Menu's
I never plan ahead and thats probably why I always spend too much money in the grocery store
I need to try and plan ahead but if I do, someone in my house will not want it, always happens, lol

Re: Weekly Menu's
Mabey I should show my husband how much we are spending on food, he is the one that goes in the store to pick up one thing I asked him to and comes home with a bag full. He wanted to cook dinner one night last week, so I let him and he spent I know at least 60 bucks on this one nights meal!
