Dear people,
The whole Bible was written by men of God and authored by God Himself (Who supernaturally inspired them to write) with the understanding or correct assumption (one not needing any proof in this case) that there actually is absolute truth -- truth that is always true no matter who or what may be involved. Therefore, we have such words on record in the Bible as those of Jesus, the Christ, the very Son of God, which say, "Verily, verily, I say unto you ..." (John 5:28) .
These words of Christ could be translated, "Truly, truly, I say unto you ...". The veracity, the certainty, or the truth, of His words is what Jesus was here emphasizing. He always spoke the truth, but He sometimes emphasized it to show that what He was about to say was very important.
Here is the whole verse:
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." (John 5:28)
I thought I would share with the Bible Notes list a little something I sent to someone in Europe that is not a Christian, who says that he is more of a "science kind of guy".
I also gave him some Bible Note links to check out. I do NOT claim originality here. This is a product of much learning from others in the area of Apologetics. I trust it might help an honest seeker after truth.
In several instances, I added explanatory words in parentheses to help him understand some words, since he is not a native English speaker. He does rather well though.

Is Truth Absolute or Relative?
When a person says something like, "There is NO absolute truth!" (truth that is always true and never false, no matter what happens). They have already contradicted (to disagree or argue with) their own statement (words). Or, I might say that the truth of those words is an impossibility.
The reason is that the speaker makes the assumption (to accept as a fact without complete proof) that his words, or the statement is absolutely true, which immediately (right away), disproves (shows the falsehood or untruth of) itself.
You see, if those words were true, then they would make themselves untrue. For, similarly, if someone says that "all truth is relative" (changing, or may change to be true or not true for the person or the situation), then he allows that the very words he has just spoken may or may not be true in different situations. Then, this in turn allows for the possibility that in some situations there might actually be absolute truth, or truth that is NOT relative. 
Truly, if there were no absolute truth, all of faith and religion would be totally irrelative and worthless, or of no eternal value. Of course, if there were no absolute truth, the whole universe would immediately disappear into oblivion.
