Bible Note Quote: "If we love God and our neighbor as we should, we will have little if any trouble obeying God's rules. Righteous living flows outward from a heart full of God's love."

When Jesus Comes to Your Heart

When Jesus Comes to Your Heart

quote:

Revelation 3:14-22 (Text v.20)

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."

 (Sermon notes minus illustrations)

Intro.: It must have been twenty or more years ago I heard these words "If Jesus came to your house" -- words of a song/poem -- "I wonder what you’d do". But, oh dear people, the Bible says that Jesus is the “light that lighteth every man that cometh into the world”. Therefore, I say, when Jesus comes to your heart, I wonder what you will do!

I. When the Redeemer Comes to Your Heart

Among other things He comes as:

  A. The Son of God

  B. Your Sacrifice for Sin

  C. Your Savior -- He stands ready to save you from all your sins, guilt & shame

  D. The Suitor of Your Heart -- He knocks with patient love

  E. The Song of Your Soul -- If only you let Him in, you’ll never be sorry!

II. He Has Requirements for You to Meet

Conditions you must meet with your heart:

  A. Observe -- give Him your attention

       1. Behold as He stands before your heart’s door

       2. Listen as He Knocks & Speaks

  B. Obey -- “If any man will ...” --

be obedient to His voice, simply and completely obey

  C. Open -- “... open the door” --

accept Him in whatever way He chooses to come in -- by faith -- simple -- so simple a child may be saved! Just let Him come into your heart.

III. He Wants a Relationship with You!

Once you let Him in, you will notice:

    A. His Coming -- “When Jesus comes ...” -- His mighty instantaneous transformation of your heart, darkness turned to light, sin to righteousness, sorrow into joy,

    B. His Company -- “Lo, I am with you alway” -- walking with Him

    C. His Communion -- talking with Him

prayer, a two-way means of communication -- He talks to your heart as you talk to Him

Conclusion: It is so simple, so right, and so rewarding to open your heart’s door and let the Savior, Jesus Christ, come in to transform and to stay. Why don’t you do it today?

Yours In Christ,
Martin Overfield
