Val's Dugout Pizza Crust
Val's Dugout Pizza Crust
MrGigs was going to the store & I asked him to buy FF Whole wheat Pita bread so I could make homemade pizza. Instead he comes home with a loaf of Italian Bread......so......
Dugout Pizza Crust was born!
First press the loaf down to make it flat.
Then cut the bread in half longways.
Scoop out all the doughy middle leaving about 1/4" of crust (should look like an empty cantaloupe or watermelon rind when you're done). If you don't have the heart to throw away the "guts" just dry them out and make bread crumbs. I threw that dough away!
Use this DUGOUT bread as your pizza crust. Each dugout half loaf should weigh about 4 ounces which equals 8 points -- put on whatever toppings suits you counting the points as you go. This made a great pizza crust, very crunchy.
