RED and all that follows

After having been through the RED/FCP workflow with many people I have discovered that there are still some problems with RED. Particularly over heating on location.
Have heard this from a few sources.
So now we are considering the Sony EX3 HDCam or the new Panasonic AG-HPX301E P2 HD Camcorder.
We will be shooting in the tropics so size and portability are a concern. And we want to edit on location on FCP.
There is a possibility that the project may be picked up for a film out as well.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this.
TIA

Mark
