posticon The New Season......we're almost there....

Hello people,

I am well and truly itching for the new football season as I'm sure we all are!

Looking forward to Spurs and BSXI taking the Premiership and Church league by storm! Ok, maybe I'll settle for just one of those...

Do we know which teams are in which division yet?

How many teams will there be in Div 1?

When will the fixture list be decided?

When is our first game likely to be?

Will Chris Day finally call it a day?

I'm sure some of these answers are in the messageboard somewhere, but with so many threads, I haven't got time (and frankly, can't be arsed) to look.....

I know which of the two I'd put my money on.

There will be 10 teams in Div 1 next year. Div 1 will be BSXI, Widcombe W, Thornbury, Slip, Christchurch, Woodies, Pip n Jay, Santos, BUCU and Nailsea.

Div 2 will be the remaining teams from last year. Rock voluntarily demoted themselves as they've lost a lot of players. Hope have folded. Welstock will be called Welton Rangers, and there are 3 new teams. Can't remember what they're all called now.

Fixtures will be out by the end of this month.

No 100% sure, but I think the cup prelim will be 30th August, and first league game on 6th Sept.

Ta mate, you're a fountain of knowledge as always! Fancy joining BSXI? (we'll never win the end of season quiz going up against you!)

Will Slip be challenging for the title next year? Should be an interesting season...

Gutted that Rock have bottled it, always nice going up against your old team. I doubt anyone else at Slip knows that I used to play for them apart from you Nathan?!

I'm relieved that we don't have to play Welstock again this season, much too far to travel! Just need Widcombe to get relegated now! Is anyone from Widcombe on here? Can you guys play your home games a bit closer this year, and maybe not in a field in another county???

Cheeky! You were my favourite fixture of the season Cackles! For 2 reasons....firstly I have fond memories of winning the league with Rock!....and on a more serious note, Steve Butterworth and Chris Bright (when fit) are without doubt the best defensive partnership in the league! (sorry Eakes/JP!) Always a challenge, but one I relish!

Oh well, have fun in Div 2! All went downhill after I left apparently....

Now I only have Slip as a former team to face, not that we need any extra motivation to play you guys! That nil-nil really got under our skin, but we won't be so forgiving next time....

Not only that, but back in the day, Redshaw and Stout was the Slip front pairing on a few occasions....

Nor will we!

Enjoyed your posts today - I prefer the relaxed Chris Stout. Don't rest on your laurels too much though, we want that league winners trophy so you'll have a fight on your hands this season.
