Woman Stuck on Toilet for 2 Years

A story so bizarre and gross that it has to be true. A woman sat on a toilet for so long that her skin actually grew around the seat. According to her boyfriend, she just didn't want to come out of the bathroom, so he brought her food and water and she just sat there. For two years.

You remember Couch Woman, don't you? It was a really sad story. A hugely obese woman basically melted into her couch. Her flesh grew into the fibers. They tried to remove it surgically, but she died on the operating table.

What I think is so amazing (and gross) is that humans appear to be like trees which will grow around anything they come in contact with if it stays there long enough. *shudder*

Yeah it is kinda freaky.... And I figure I'd do with the ring the same thing you're supposed to do with earrings. Spin it now and then at the very least, so the skin doesn't try to grow around it.
I have to wonder though, with the chick on the couch... was she like, nude on the couch or did her skin grow through the fibers of her clothing too? I mean, I know that's why you're supposed to turn an invalid now and then to prevent bedsores, because open skin I do know will grow onto about anything...
But damn, that whole story is just ****ed up. heh I mean, I'd say it's not the boyfriend's fault the girl didn't come off the toilet... but to bring her food in there is kinda enabling her. heh

Uh... right then. If you have a thyroid problem, you'd think you'd try to figure out what foods to eat to try and keep from getting *that* bad.... sheesh. That woman's shorter than me, and weighed 3 of me even when she was mobile....
And of course I'd like to know why, in the two times she was at the hospital for a broken leg, nobody bothered to try and counsel her on her weight and how to get it under control. Especially since they knew she was going to have to be sedentary for a while...

Through the fibers of her clothing. The article said that she lived in incredible filth and probably hadn't bathed or changed her clothes in years. She was lying in her own excrement.

Her sister said she came over now and then to wash her while she was lying on the couch, but apparently she only washed the front of her. No one ever turned her or tried to wash her or change her clothes, so her sister must have just reached under the clothing to wash what she could reach.

They probably did, but they can't force a patient to obey their suggestions. Being immobile, she would have to depend on her caregiver to bring her the right kind of foods and it sure sounds like her caregiver didn't give a damn about her health.
