One Million Roses official hp: http://rose.kbs.co.kr taken from Meat Jun at KBFD forum: CAST Park Hye Ran (portrayed by Son Tae Young, who also appeared in Pure Heart as Da Hye) I think her father left the family or did something irresponsible to the family, so she is resentful towards him. Kang Min Jae (portrayed by Lee Chang Hoon, who also appeared in This is Love, Propose and Pretty Lady) I think he is a competent team leader or manager in his company. His mother remarried after the death of his father. See note on his family below. Oh Hyun Gyu (portrayed by Kim Seung Su, who also appeared in Wife, Fox & Cotton Candy, Cool, etc.) I think he came back from studying abroad and has an MBC in animation and the film industry. I don't think his father likes what he does or wants to do. He later enters a company to work in management or something (not sure). Suh Yu Jin (portrayed by Yoon Hae Young, who also appeared in This is Love and Beautiful Days) I think she has a degree in industrial design and is a modern, career-type, city woman. HYE RAN'S FAMILY: pic not available Father - Park Tae Il (portrayed by Lee Jung Gil who appeared in Who's My Love as Sang Sik's father) Mother - Choi Keum Ja (portrayed by Yoon Yu Jung -- On The Prairie, This is Love) Older brother - Park Hye Sung (portrayed by Ahn Jung Hoon -- Summer Scent) HYE RAN pic not available Uncle - Park Tae Ho MIN JAE'S AND HYUN GYU 'S FAMILY A little background - This is what I believe is the relationship in this more complicated family. Min Jae and Hyun Gyu are step-brothers. Min Jae's mother married Hyun Gyu's father after her first husband (Min Jae's father) died. Min Jae's mother was poor and in desperate situation, she remarried. Her second husband is Oh In Hwan who is Hyun Gyu's father. In Hwan's first wife (Hyun Gyu's mother) died in a traffic accident. I think Hyun Gyu's grandmother treats Min Jae's mother badly (maybe abuses her or something -- just look at her picture and you can tell Granny is not an easy person to serve). I believe Hyun Gyu's father and Min Jae's mother produced a daughter together. Oh Eun Ji is therefore Min Jae's and Hyun Gyu's half sister. Hyun Gyu's Father {Min Jae's Stepfather} - Oh In Hwan (portrayed by Han Jin Hee -- To Be With You, On The Prairie) Hyun Gyu's Stepmother {Min Jae's Mother} - Kim Sun Young (portrayed by Lee Hye Suk) MIN JAE HWAN GYU Hyun Gyu's & Min Jae's half-sister {daughter of In Hwan & Sun Young} - Oh Eun Ji (portrayed by Jun Hye Jin) Grandmother {In Hwan's mother} - Han Kui Bun (portrayed by Ban Hyo Jung -- To Be With You) Aunt {Sun Young's sister / Min Jae's aunt} - Kim Sun Ok YU JIN'S FAMILY: Father - Suh Dong Pyo (portrayed by Jo Kyung Hwan -- All-In, Mothers & Sisters) Mother - Jo Mal Bong ( portrayed by Kim Ja Ok -- This is Love, On The Prairie) Older sister - Suh Yu Kyung (portrayed by Yang Jung Ah) YU JIN from myself: Sidenote: Ratings for the series in Korea so far have been pretty good. I think it only showed it at least once, and that happened after the comedy Run, My Mother ended for the night (and before the news started at 8pm). This is officially the drama replacing YH, and will definitely begin 10/29 at 8:25pm. I already gave up on YH like two weeks ago because the storyline seemed so bad. I watched part of it recently and it didn't seem like anything important had happened considering the series is about to end. I have been watching the K-dramas for about 5 years. I am looking forward to seeing One Million Roses... There are several characters that are in it that I have enjoyed over the years in other dramas... Hyun-Gyu's grandmother is sure obstinate in her ways, not to mention how cold she makes me feel, especially when you compare to Na Young's grandmother (Bodyguard) or Tae-young's grandmother (YH). Then there's that look on Hye Ran's mother's face when she saw Hyun-Gyu's father...do the 2 know each other? If any drama should replace YH, I think OMR is definitely the one. Min-jae is so likeable and I have to say the same for Hye-ran. I'm still kind of iffy towards Hyun-kyu because I think he may be resentful towards Min-jae. But still!!! In California we're already on episode 5 of OMR. It seems pretty good. I am new here! I am actually Filipino who enjoys watching Korean Dramas! I watched Lady Mermaid, Yellow Handkerchief and now One Million Roses. OMR is rather interesting. I am hooked! Have been watching them for several years now. Yellow Handkerchief is definitely my favorite. I am in CA also so am on same episode as you on OMR. I like a lot of the characters on OMR because they are mostly from previous shows I've watched. I haven't gotten 'hooked' on it yet but sure hope to. I so enjoy these shows...
