Re: K-Drama: 노란손수건 (Yellow Handkerchief)
Hi all
I am checking in after ep 16 and reading all your posts . I have a very different experience now in that this is the first time I am watching Yellow Handkerchief . I could tell from the first episode that this would be a compelling drama ! And it caught my attention , that is for sure .
I felt sort of neutral about SangMin until a recent episode where it struck me that SangMin was SO very harsh and unfeeling to JaYoung and that it almost took my breath away . I could not believe that he could be so heartless ...so I was thinking that he must have been either a completely different person when JaYoung fell in love with him or he was faking it the whole time . I just can't account for it .
As far as SangMin's father - I thought about what Nchristi wrote . He is not entirely a sympathetic character either , but compared to SangMin , I have to give my sympathy to the father . It is still early , though , and I will have a lot of time to figure out what is up with everyone .
In tonights installment , SM's dad rebuffs MJ offer of an apartment , TaeYoung beats up a driver that taunted him , and Gramma tells JY she can NOT have this baby . Funny - I didn't realize that Gramma knew about the pregnancy . I think JY hasn't had a lot of time to think about it herself . She is in shock and immobilized by 2 major losses . That of SM and her mother . SM betrayed her too - so it is worse .
I would NOT want SangMin's karma .
nsheldon . I got hooked on iced coffee when I was in Asia , but I go to Starbucks for mine because I just love the way it tastes . However , if you want to make it at home , I understand that you must brew it stronger than regular coffee . Otherwise , it is too weak when the ice melts . You might have to work with it to get the strength YOU like .
It is hard to NOT watch this every night lately , but I will stick to schedule !

He's also embarrassed by his father. That's one of the reasons he treats him with such contempt.

Grrrr.... Still haven't found my CDs yet. But I did find Minjoo in another drama.
I've been watching City Hall for about 2 weeks. She looks the same physically... Including her hairdo. And dresses just as well. But she did have a brain transplant She's funny now, and not as smart. Still beautiful. I like her as a councilwoman.

Re: K-Drama: 노란손수건 (Yellow Handkerchief)
Adwatcher: Hope you didn't accidentally throw YH out!!!
Yeah, Min Joo looks the same on City Hall... and isn't her name the same or similar?
Well, I meant to go out and take care of errands but then I thought... "It's hot. Why make myself uncomfortable?"... so I'm still inside... But think I'll run over to Target.
OK, I watched episode #17.... I think I was supposed to watch it over the weekend. I keep getting lost where we are and since the episodes are only 1/2 hour I just don't get enough.
It's a definite I HATE SANG MIN with me... There are just no words (jerk, scum bag, arrogant, greedy, hateful, cruel, rude, heartless) to describe him.
But good news!!! I fell in love with Young Joon (Other Granny's grandson)... He is so down to earth and has such a natural goodness about him.. In #17 he gets to spend some time with Ja Young. She's reserved and quiet around him but I think she is amused by him as well. He even got her to have dinner with him. It's all very innocent but I liked seeing them together.
Sang Min actually told Tae Young that he was too low class to be friends with Sun Joo. Sang Min is such a low life WORM..
And OMG that Mi Ryung is like a pesky mosquito around Tae Young..
I hope Tae Young keeps seeing Sun Joo (and won't let someone else tell him who he's allowed to see). I feel so bad for Sun Joo. She seems so lonely. Tae Young is an honest good person and I think him and Sun Joo look good together.
Weird conversation between Min Joo & her step mother. Step mom gets some new things for MJ's room and apologizes for not doing more. She wanted to do more. MJ is cool towards her and then tells her she's glad her father married her because she has her and Sun Joo in her life now. Otherwise she would have been lonely. Then somehow Step Mom compares being married to MJ's father as a form of suicide. Is there a story there? I thought she loved him.

Re: K-Drama: 노란손수건 (Yellow Handkerchief)
Adwatcher : I sure hope you find your discs !!!! That would be bad = I am keeping mine next to the
TV !!!
I am here after ep 17 , and as usual I have a few thoughts .
First of all , I don't think it is coincidence that Young Joon keeps running into Ja Young . I wonder if there is something to it . He seems like a genuinely nice man , and Ja Young is a wonderful girl . There is a little handicap to that to be sure - so we will have to wait and see . I know that Ja Young has no clue , but since she has been blindsided by recent events I could not expect her to realize if YJ is or isn't interested .
( but ; I think we know better )
I don't blame Sun Joo at all for asking for her own place . Even if SM was a fabulous guy , who would want to live with newlyweds ? I know I wouldn't , and I find MJ's stance puzzling . As far as her stepmom goes , I can only feel sorry for her .
It is hilarious to see SM's reaction to the news that SJ is friends with TaeYoung . He IS paranoid !! I guess we know everything is all about HIM . I find it extremely ironic that SM tells TY that SJ's family would never accept him (TJ ) as SJ's friend ....if that is the case , I would ask SM " then how is it that they are ok
with YOU marrying MJ ????????????"
MiRyung needs more than a matchmaking service - she needs to meet a "yes ,dear " kind of a man . Otherwise , I just see much of a marital future for her .
Nsheldon - I am sending you an email

Re: K-Drama: 노란손수건 (Yellow Handkerchief)
Love Young Joon. He is a great guy. Yes, it seems to suggest something if him and Ja Young keep running into each other.
Last night I watched #18 (sorry but just couldn't help myself)...
Sang Min... This guy has some nerve.. See how he is sneaking around like a snake to try to stop Tae Young and Sun Joo from meeting... He starts telling Min Joo to 'pay more attention' to her sister.. Even MJ was curious why Sang Min was suddenly so interested in Sun Joo's life.
Ja Young has decided to take 3 days off and have the abortion. She wants Grandma to be out of the house so she goes to see Other Grandma and asks her to take Grandma to the spa/resort. While there, who should come home but the wonderful Young Joon. He is pleased to see Ja Young. Other Grandma asks JY to go to dinner with them... she'll have YJ treat them. JY doesn't want to but then YJ decides they eat at home and off he goes to market.
Then we see JY and YJ cooking together in the kitchen.. I think these two would make a perfect couple but at this point, neither is looking for someone. Especially Ja Young. She has other things on her mind.
Oh, let me back up... Ja Young happened to come upon Tae Young and Sang Min when Sang Min was telling TY to quit seeing Sun Joo. JY and SM end up having coffee together (loved the coffee/tea cups we see on these shows...Hey, maybe JY designed the ones her and SM were drinking out of)..
Anyway, the arrogant snob Sang Min tells Ja Young to make Tae Young quit seeing Sun Joo. Then he has the nerve to ask her if she'd gone to the hospital. I can't believe this creepy jerk tells her it will haunt him .... LATER if she keeps the baby. This guy really has no problem rubbing salt in her wounds, does he? I HATE that Ja young lets tears fall when she's around SM. I don't want him to see how much pain she's in.
I personally think Sun Joo should not have her own place. I understand that living in that house is horrible for everyone. Seems like there is so much tension in there. However, Sun Joo says she wants to be independent. You're not independent if you are relying on someone else to foot the bill.
What does Sun Joo do anyway? Is she in school? College? She doesn't work. She should get a job and then move out on her own.. I'm sure Min Joo would supplement her income.
I do feel bad for Sun Joo being so unhappy at home. I actually could see her happy with Tae young. Sun Joo was raised with money but she isn't a snob. I think she would enjoy being in a larger family as long as there was love in it.
Oh, Addie... You said it was ironic that SM tells TY (and JY) that TY would never be accepted by MJ's family ... yet, HE is being accepted by them...He's good enough but TY isn't? OMG that is so true!!! This guy just gets worse and worse, doesn't he!!!

Re: K-Drama: 노란손수건 (Yellow Handkerchief)
The teacups used in the various dramas have legs. I've seen one pattern in about 5 different dramas!
Thought I had caught up with you guys, but you're still ahead of me. Well, my favorite Young joon has now appeared. Back when I first watched this one, it seemed that Jo Min Ki was appearing in so many of the dramas. The last one I saw him in was that one on MBCD, where he was the major villain. Still love him, villain or not.
What an unpleasant couple. Min joo is totally self-centered (does she even notice that Sang min never smiles??) and Sang min the, well, we can't use those words on this board! LOL They're like a black cloud that ruins everyone's day. Actually, I think Min joo is worse than Sang Min. He's just stupid and greedy. She's more intelligent, but she's using that intelligence is such a destructive way. Every time she forces him to say he loves her, I cringe. It's like she's training him.
