Just as a matter of interest, there's a DVD set of YH up for bid on e-Bay today (5/27) - but it's the Chinese version. emoticon

Still, it's interesting that there is actually a professionally done DVD set of YH out there. I had no idea! I might even bid on it myself, if the price doesn't rise too high.

e-Bay

i loved this series. in my opinion it was the best, out of the six, i've seen. it was so well acted, written, and the music was absolutely beautiful. no other show since has compared to its all-around quality. please, anyone, let me know if you ever see an english dvd set of this show. i will buy it at any cost, it would definitely be well worth it!!

What happened to Mi-ryung at the end? Did she finally get pregnant or does she raise her mom's child?

Re: K-Drama: 노란손수건 (Yellow Handkerchief)

yellow handkerchief is currently shown in the philippines and it has so many followers. a lot of women can empathize with lee tae ran's character and her uphill climb to succeed in business and in raising her child by herself. the biological father has no right to claim paternity as he has given it all up and never repented it when he himself accompanied her to the abortion clinic. now that he's all grown-up and his current wife cannot bear kids, he comes running to claim him. shame on him. one thing that makes me curious here is the open discussion of abortion as an option to lee tae ran's problems then. we are a predominantly catholic country and open discussion of abortion on tv shows is anathema.

K-Drama: 노란손수건 (Yellow Handkerchief)

Couldn't pass up this thread by registering my delight in this drama, too! Saw it a few years ago and it has been my personal gauge in measuring my enjoyment of other dramas. This still remains my all-time favorite daily kdrama. A very kind soul who diligently taped this drama when it played locally here some years ago, gave me the enitre collection on DVDs as a Christmas gift in 2006. Since I've been too busy to watch as many of the dramas as I have access to, I've only watched up to Eps. 6 so far.

Yes, it is commonly a part of Korean dramas. South Korea has one of the highest abortion rates, so I guess the subject and discussion isn't all that shocking in their dramas. Although, as I recall the dramas, most of the story lines are of abortions that didn't really take place. Somebody wants the girl to have an abortion but she secretly or openly refuses, keeping the baby.

Korea has a very strict, conservative television agency that okays or denies certain things on TV. Maybe this is their way of trying to discourage the high abortion rate... the girl keeps it and eventually lives happily ever after.

I have to register my delight as well!!!!!
I am an accidental K Drama fan.....with all the fanfare about the Korean Wave and Winter Sonata and Bae Yong Joon.....I could never quite understand what all the fuss was about......until one day while channel surfing...I saw this scene....I can still remember it so well....the actor offered his hand to the actress while stepping on some rocks to cross a stream.....there was something so sad about this character....You just feel so drawn to her....you just want to continue watching to find out more....so I started following Yellow Handkerchief and found out that the actress was Lee Tae Ran.......and this led to more K Dramas.....but I have to say YH is still my favourite daily drama...the acting is great.......interesting story which touched on some social issues faced by a still rather conservative Korean society.....the OST is excellent...... unfortunately KBS doesn't produce DVDs for their daily dramas ( yet?)....I'll be the first in line to get a copy of YH.

In my heart, YH will always be my favorite. I'm watching, and LOVING, Pure in Heart. I also loved Bizarre Bunch (just about as much as YH). But YH was the most beautiful. Could there be a more beautiful actress than Lee Tae Ran?

Sumz1... You are so fortunate to own it. I'm too jealous!!

I know the 20 episode dramas I've seen for sale at Borders ran around $100 - $120. I even saw some that were around $80. Can you imagine the cost of YH? Wasn't it around 150 episodes?
