Re: K-Drama: 노란손수건 (Yellow Handkerchief)
I'm sure surprised I'm the first one to post.
Watched ep 1& 2. Ep one primarily introduced us to most of the players, but it also served to introduce TaeYoung to SunJoo.
I don't remember it moving so fast. In ep 2 we already have MinJoo announcing her intention to marry JaYoung!!
And I'm already starting to dislike JaYoung's selfish, Walter Mitty Dad!!

Re: K-Drama: 노란손수건 (Yellow Handkerchief)
ADwatcher, I responded to your post in the BB thread, but it disappeared. Soon as I stop sulking, I will send you a pm. Hope you receive it.
Yellow Handkerchief was my 3rd Kdrama. It was the first drama I taped from beginning to the end. The previous drama, To Be With You, was a downer and I didn't intend to watch another series. But, the cultural mores reflected in the dramas were new and facinating to me then, so out of curiosity I looked at the first episode of YH, and when I first saw the gorgeous Lee Tae Ran, I was hooked.
Rewatched the first 2 episodes. Suprised how I completely forgot some characters, particularly the loving "song birds" couple, i.e. Miryun's parents.
Hard to admit this ,but I like Minjoo somewhat. Hated her the first time around, but after seeing so many dramas with these passive, lead female characters who get slapped around by the evil mils, and dragged around by their "prince", Minjoo's aggression- directness, bluntness, and to some extent, her selfishness is refreshing. She is gonna have her man no matter what. Ironically, Miryun is like Minjoo - agressive, direct, blunt and selfish regarding her man, but I can't stand her. Miryun is an annoying brat. When she opens her mouth, I can see her screeching.

Re: K-Drama: 노란손수건 (Yellow Handkerchief)
PhilaD,
Hope you’ll join us in the rewatch. The first time I saw YH was after I heard so many good things about it and that Lee Tae Ran was in it. I first saw LTR in My Rosy Life. I don’t like tear-jerkers as a general rule, but OH WOW! I was mesmerized by LTR. She could just sit and read the phone book and I would watch her all day long.
Her appearance in YH starts out more of the “freshly scrubbed” look but even without makeup, I agree with you. She is gorgeous!
As for Minjoo, I like her. Not the typical Korean woman, or woman for that matter. She’s not evil or coy, she just knows what she wants and goes out and gets it. Your assessment is right on.
And Miryun, I hadn’t looked at it before, but yes, she is like Minjoo, without the polish.
And the Songbirds, I think they (the writers) overdid their parts.
We have a long and interesting ride ahead of us.

Re: K-Drama: 노란손수건 (Yellow Handkerchief)
I just started ep 1 . I can't believe how many people look familiar even though I don't know what their names are - I can think in what drama I saw them before .
I think this story looks very interesting so far . I forgot how jam packed the first episodes are as we meet so many people . I do not know if I said , but I have never seen this series before .
I recognized a young Han Ga In as the younger sister of the executive , and I had to laugh ....I can't remember the actor's name , but I could swear that the young guy that she hit on his bicycle is now her ( real ) husband . Any way , I think I am going to need til the weekend to catch up the first 5 eps , and hopefully I will be up to speed .
I got my copy from ebay , and I am so far very pleased with it . I hope we all settle in for a nice series , and it is not too late for others to still join in if they want .
Back later - but does anyone know what year this show was made in ? Please share any and all trivia .
I have only seen Lee Tae Ran in a couple of things , but I agree that she is very good . I think she could probably carry this whole story by herself , but she probably won't have too as they are introducing so many characters .
I sure wouldnt give my bank account # to that " aboneem " guy though . I have a bad feeling about him

Re: K-Drama: 노란손수건 (Yellow Handkerchief)
Well, I did manage to get through episodes 1 & 2..
In #1 we are introduced to most of the characters (there are a few that will be added)..
Ja Young is out shopping for Christmas gifts. It goes back and forth showing the different characters. Sang Min was apparently promoted within his company and is shown first at the funeral of his boss. He's with the boss' daughter (who is now his boss), Min Joo. Min Joo took over the business when her dad died.
Actually, it isn't the funeral but the 100 day ceremony because Min Joo has been in charge of the business for 3 months.
Sang Min is repeatedly called by Ja Young (his girlfriend) and by his father. He is giving 100% of his time and attention to his boss Min Joo. Sang Min's father wanted to buy a scarf for himself (he's sort of an extra in movies). Anyway, he had no money and Sang Min wouldn't take his calls so he called Ja Young (who is Sang Min's long time girlfriend). She met SM's father and bought him the scarf.
We meet Mi Ryung, a very loud mouth spoiled girl who is in love with Tae Young. Tae Young is Ja Young's brother. Mi Ryung is determined that Tae Young will be her husband.
Sun Joo (Min Joo's 1/2 sister) crashes into Tae Young and totals his motorcycle. She takes him to the hospital. She also buys him a new bike.
In episode #2 Sun Joo gives her sister Min Joo the bill for the bike. Min Joo is mad that her sister spends money but doesn't work. Sun Joo and Min Joo do not have a good relationship and Min Joo seems controlling. Sun Joo seems very angry with the world and seems to resent her sister.
Sang Min's father is scolded by Sang Min (SM) because he got money from Ja Young (JY). But JY had ended up buying the scarf as a gift. SM wants to end this relationship...
Sang Min meets JY and tells her he can't spend Christmas w/her because he is going to Japan. She wants to see him off and greet him on his return but he says NO. However, Min Joo (MJ) doesn't 'ask' and shows up before his plane leaves and plants a big kiss on him. I noticed he returns the kiss and hugs her to him. .
Also, JY comes to SM's house and fixes dinner but SM didn't show up. She cleans his room and finds the photo of them in the drawer. She puts it on his desk. When he gets home he lays it face down.
I think SM acts rude to his father. They don't seem to have a good relationship.
I'll get to episode #3 today...
Edit: Gonna take note of JY's nose.
