70's Fashion subs

Thanks Creidesca for following up with that. I too was wondering what happened with that order. Also, I would like to comment on the copy of 70's Fashion I bought from Yesasia. Though the story is very good, as is the performances, etc., the subtitles are atrocious! Some of the worst I've seen yet. It's an expensive set so be prepared if you do buy this. Though we don't see much talk about this drama here, it was highly rated this summer in Korea, though a bit overshadowed by the success of Sam Soon. I just received my copy of Sam Soon, but haven't watched it yet as I need to finish up 70's Fashion.

Re: Kim Sam Soon

I received my Kim Sam Soon DVD set this past week. I ordered it from YesAsia and the Eng subs seem a lot better to me than what was shown locally here on TV. Of course, I don't speak Korean, but the English is excellent, they add subs for all the little unspoken things (i.e. the names of documents, KSS's address on the wall) and the subs, though white, are outlined in a darker color, making them readable over any background.

One thing I did notice, however, is that the picture content is somewhat reduced from what I saw on TV, or in various clips I've viewed around the net. For example, in an out take where Sam Sik walks back to his car and loses his footing, his entire body appears in the broadcast versions I saw; yet, in this YesAsia DVD, only about 1/3 of his body is shown (if that) and it wouldn't be evident that he slipped if I hadn't previously seen the clip elsewhere. I've watched four episodes from the DVD so far and am not aware of this presenting a problem, or compromising the content/intent of the original drama, however.

An aside, I also ordered an all-region GEIC DVD player from YesAsia. It is small (white—not black or silver, thank god), quiet, easy to operate, has all the features I like, and the picture quality is wonderful. I am very happy with both my DVD player and KSS set. (Now, to compare the subs with Fendercat's notes and I'm all set! And I can do karaoke on the DVD player, too! Where are my tambourines, maracas, and some of that joy juice that Mom used in her testing of Sam Sik! emoticon)

K-dramas on DVD with ENG subs *updated 11/22/2005*

so unlike the other previous Yesasia DVD sets from YA entertainment, the Sam Soon DVD set wasn't just a bare bones DVD set? Extras were actually included?

I got to see the Fashion 70's dvd set up close. A friend let me
borrow it for a few days. I could not believe how bad the subtitles
were on this dvd set. Even worst than some of the dvd sets put
out by PMP. I can't believe a $135 korean drama on dvd would have
english subtitles like this. I hope the word gets out and no one buys
this korean drama on dvd.

K-dramas on DVD with ENG subs *updated 11/22/2005*

good thing the subs for Hanoi Bride were passable--occasional grammatical errors/spelling mistakes + several instances where its 3 lines of text instead of the standard 2. But the Vietnamese subs were excellent! I wish they had taken more care w/ the English subs as they had w/ the Vietnamese subs. The extras included w/ Hanoi Bride were also available with English/Vietnamese subs.

An additional note about the Sam Soon dvd: Mine came with a small mouse pad! Glad to hear about the good subs.

Yes, I probably have the same thing that Tangpriest received. This is a 6 DVD set that also includes a KSS mouse pad and Dae Jang Geum episodes 1 and 2 (120 min.) (Smart teaser to get you hooked enough to buy the whole set!)

The packaging is very nice, as well. Instead of the inner disc boxes falling out one side or the other, the opening is at the top of the box, with a red ribbon handle with which to pull out the inner box. Very nice; very attractive; very functional.

I just received a very nice letter from KBS letting me know about 18, 29 and the refund coming, and it includes the 10% offer. Very nice.

K-dramas on DVD with ENG subs *updated 11/22/2005*

KBS-America's e-store must have updated sometime Saturday, because now I see that they're selling the Resurrection/Revenge as well as the Wedding DVD sets

Resurrection/Revenge: http://estore.kbs-america.com/pr.aspx?PrID=32
Wedding (coming soon, please contact them for further info): http://estore.kbs-america.com/pr.aspx?PrID=31

the e-store's customer service (open M-F 9am-6pm): 1-866-KBS-9901

My suggestion right now is to not order any of these 2 sets till I contact them on Monday...I want to confirm some things about the Resurrection DVD set as well as my 10% discount.

Thanks for all the info on ordering and the products. I am pretty wary of using places I haven't used before, but I did order from Yes Asia and it all worked out great! I ordered the Phoenix DVD set, the picture is so crisp and clear and the subtitles are better, more eloquent and seem to tell a bit more of the story than the ones on AZN did. The only extra was the first episode of Damo (great, now I have to get that also, mmmm Lee Seo Jin!!). The OST was offered for 2.99 instead of 12.99 if you bought them together and I received a 5 dollar off coupon on my next purchase. I will use them again!
