Re: K-dramas on DVD with ENG subs *updated 10/02/08*

Got a response from Kris Lee, at KBS America, about "Women in the Sun" & here it is:

Unfortunately, Women in the Sun is not offered as DVD box sets now.
We might offer it as EOR sets which are DVD copies from the master tapes.
EOR was originally designed for fans who have missed their shows on TV.
You can buy each episode at $6 or you can buy whole sets.
You can see the sample picture of EOR discs at our website
www.kbs-america.com.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

I have only complete DVD box set of certain K-dramas, so not sure how EOR sets differ & whether I should buy each episode or the whole set?? Any advice or suggestions?? I REALLY want this drama in my collection!!

lex07, my suggestion is to ask kris lee how much is the whole set of 20 episodes on EOR (since the price of the whole set should be less than buying it per episode).

Once you know that price, you can decide whether you'll wait and see whether KBS will release a Korea DVD boxset with english subs or buy the set from them.

Note that the english subs on EOR are embedded, meaning you can't turn off the subtitles, and they'll place each disc in individual soft/hard plastic cases for you. Nothing fancy.

Thanks, creidesca!! Embedded subtitles is fine, since I want to see them in English & don't want to worry about whether turning them on every time.

Will EOR sets play on my DVD player just like a regular DVD?? Just want to make sure emoticon

Yes, the EOR DVDs should play like a regular DVD...it is basically a DVD. Most players nowadays can play DVD- and DVD+ discs.

Re: K-dramas on DVD with ENG subs *updated 11/27/08*

P.S. I used my 40% off Borders coupon for Full House.. Thanks Creidesca!!

At first I was not sure what I wanted. I entered the code for Full House and then backed out of it and changed my mind. I tried it on something else and got a message that said I already used the code. Apparently if you put the code in and go to the next page it stores it and you can't use it again.

I ended up calling Borders Customer Care and they put the order in for me (I had then changed my mind again and went for the Full House). They gave me the 40% off and free shipping (for orders over $25)...

When I used the code online, I added the DVD boxsets I wanted, and if I changed my mind about it, I would remove the item I didn't want. You can also remove the code you didn't want to use. All this before you complete the ordering process.

Since the code could be used for a maximum of 2 DVD boxsets, I got myself Country Princess (it's so expensive everywhere else, including Yesasia), and NBC's Life Season 1 (so I got 40% off for each set).
